First of all, I never looked at the forums when the new rating system came out, so I apologize if there were already some topics on this.

Anyways, did Gamespot ever explain why they made this new system? (the .0 or .5 only ratings). I used to like rating games because I could always "feel" the score, but now I feel like I'm being forced to lower or highten my ratings. Thanx for any feedback.

Yeah, the new rating system honestly sucks. It says an example about how they gave a Cooking game and an Action game with the same graphics higher scores etc. However, they didn't bother changing the way that score system was handled, instead they threw the whole thing out, and instead made a score system which merely slides back and forth in groups of 5, which is pretty darn crappy if I be honest here. We need to know about graphics etc.

Let's say a game came out, then a revamped version or a similar version in the series came out with better graphics, we'd want to know. Say the 'Splinter Cell' games, which are all very similar in terms of gameplay, and the only thing which does change is the graphics, or storyline, however a slight change in graphics isn't going to highten the score by 5, and even if the game is a slight improvement over the first, we're still left with the hard option of giving it the same or a much higher score. We'd also need to know the Graphics in order to determine what strength graphics cards we need etc. But it's not just graphics, it's everything else. Why should a game get a a higher 1% than another? Perhaps when a Multi-platform game (such as Sonic Heroes) is released across consoles, it gets slightly higher or lower scores due to the inclusion of a tiny glitch or bug. Instead we're made to either drastically heighten the games score, or drastically lower. Which sucks.

I'm very disappointed in the new system, VERY! it has its plus sides, but overall it's very shallow, and pretty pee compared to what it once was.
