i havent' played RE4 in a long time on my PS2; but I'm pretty sure the costumes show up in the cutscenes on it, too.
From what I've heard. GS has better graphics due to it better CPU, but the PS2 version has added content, and is generally harder, because ammo is much harder to come by.
There are two ways the GC version is superior, technically, other than image quality.
1. Load times. The PS2 has frequent load times, whereas the GC does not.
2. Pre-rendered cut scenes on PS2, In-Engine on GC. If you or Ashley had a specail costume on GC, it was in the cinematics. On PS2, it was not.
More content on PS2, Better Presentation on GC. Pick your poison. Also, having completed each version numerous times, the control felt much tight on GC.

Thats weird that the PS2 ones are prerendered since the cutscenes in MGS 3 are real time and they look just as good.

Well, it's a different game, a different developer, and most importantly, not a port. Marvelous things can be be done on moderate hardware, look at the GOW games on PS2. RE4 was a port thAat saw significantly less development time than its GC counterpart.
The extra content in the PS2 version goes a loooooong way. I have both versions, but I prefer the PS2 one simply because it has more to offer with only a slight visual downgrade. The GC one does look slightly better depending on what TV you've got, but I'd rather have the extra content. Also, the PS2 version offers a real widescreen mode (meaning you don't have those black bars stuck on the image on a 16:9 set). Also, the limited collector's edition had such badass packaging. 8)
The GC version has better sound and presentation as well, plus the alt costume actually shows up in cutscenes. Honestly, I wouldn't bother with either version-- the Wii Edition has the graphics/sound/presentation of the GC version with the extra content of the PS2 version.MAILER_DAEMON
Yeah, I had GC version for years and never played it. When the Wii Edition came out I traded in my GC. I finaly played it and it was awesome-O!

I'm not sure about this... but i've heard GC version is better not just for the nicer graphics. the quantity and the ai of the enemies is waaaay superior. as far as i know ps2 has extras, but just to "hide" some of those bugs.

by the way, re4 was supposed to be sooo nice. check on youtube the re4 early stages, inside a mansion... it looked awsome.

I don't see how the AI can be any better in one, versus the other.... all they do is make bee lines to the main character. Not a whole lot going on, in the AI department. Bullets and restore items are in shorter supply on the PS2 version, though.
The PS2 version has more content. Mission with Ada Wong.
The Gamecube version has better graphics.

This is the only instance you'll see Nintendo fanboy act like it's okay to be a graphics whore.

a nintendo game that has "better graphics" LOL! Wow! that will probably NEVER happen again!
Â
but honestly, if you have a ps2 and a gc, look at the price difference. If you can get the PS2 version for half the price, then its a no brainer. If the prices is close, then get the GC version.
