I want an mmo, but not like every other mmo. I want this game to be a first person mmo rpg. The main focus of the game will be the epic battles. So basically it will be like a LOTR style battle with your team consisting of hundreds to possibly thousands of soldiers, with each soldier being an actual human player. Youre just standing there on a huge battlefield, arrows and catapult boulders flying all around you, waiting for the cue to charge at the enemy. I want the battles to take longer than five minutes like in every other game; possibly lasting hours. If you choose to quit out before the battle is over you get penalized in some major way (Hopefully this will keep players from quitting right when your army needs you the most). You get special rewards/xp/upgrades based on how you fight in the battle. If you die, you die for good and you can no longer fight in that battle. Each of about 30 to 50 servers will have its own country on a larger continent, so basically its server vs. server. The top player in each server is the king of that country and makes all the tactical decisions for their country. Essentially to win the war you have to conquer the continent and defeat all the other countries. There will be no level cap for the servers so an army of five thousand could wipe out a country with an army of only a few dozen soldiers. To protect your country you can build defenses such as castle walls and catapults and then you assign however many soldiers you want (actual players) to defend the borders wherever you want. All of these resources cost your country money. You gain money by attacking other countries and looting their castles. If youre online and defending a castle and see an enemy army (again, actual players) approaching then you can either choose to defend your area with what soldiers are stationed with you or you can call for the king to reinforce you with more players. Each war will last a certain amount of time (months possibly) and once the war is over the cycle starts all over again; new kings will be crowned and you can join a different country if you want. Really this is alot like all those text based strategy games you see on the internet, but instead of clicking on a button and having a sentence popping up telling you that you defeated an enemy, you actually have to fight the enemy in first person combat with hundreds of other players at the same time. So will a game like this ever be made and if so, when? Ten years, twenty years, fifty years? And what hurdles will have to be crossed in order to make a game like this?
