I do it for many reasons, but here are a few main ones:
-Nostalgia: I love playing video games that I grew up on, or games that I remember coming out when I was younger, but never had the opportunity to play for whatever reason. My memories if that game and the time it came out definitely add to my enjoyment of the game, and definitely motivate me to play a lot of retro titles.
-The games are just better: While current gen video games have wayyy better graphics, many current gen games feel like carbon copies of each other and it seems like original, innovative games are becoming more and more of a rarity. I feel like there were far more innovative, fun, and interesting games released prior to this gen, and they were made more so for the sake of creating a fun, great game and not a much to make a ton of money (I know money has always been a factor). Overall, I just think retro games are of much higher quality.
-Retro gaming is a lot less expensive (mostly): 98% of previous gen titles can be obtained for a fraction of what they retailed for new, making retro gaming far cheaper than dropping $60 on new PS3 titles, or even $50 for a Wii game. There are noteworthy exceptions though. . .here's looking at you Panzer Dragoon Saga.
