Valkyrie Profile 2: Silmeria is fun, but you might not get some of the story since it relates back to 1 on the PSX alot in the later parts.

Star Ocean: Till the End of Time is okay if you don't care about bad stories, and can get it for cheap. lol. Not the best in the series by far though. Don't go out of your way for it. lol

Any of the Shin Megami Tensei games and Tales of the Abyss. You're good to go.

You definately cannot go wrong with Person 3 and 4, awesome RPG's

Persona series is a must, but Ys: The Ark of Napishtim is a brilliant action RPG that you must check out.

Sorry, sometimes I word things wrong.

Personally, I love Star Ocean, and most tri-Ace games in general, but I just feel like 3 has the weakest story in Star Ocean overall. I haven't finished the International ver. of The Last Hope yet (I never played the other version), but out of 1-3 and the remakes, 3 just wasn't as good to me story wise. It is a fun game, and I love the combat system in all of them (probably one of my favorites in any RPG), but one game has to be the worst in a series by defualt, even if it is good, and 3 just happens to be that one for me.

Like I said, it's not that it's a bad game, it's just the story isn't as good as it could have been. I know tri-Ace aren't master story tellers since most of their plot twists are pretty obvious from the start (especially in the VP games lol), but it's not the worst story either, by far.
