So I just picked up Super Mario Advance 4: Super Mario Bros 3. The game is great--no problems there. In buying this game I was already aware of the lesser graphics, imo. However, what I wasn't aware of was that even more changes were made to this version. There are Mario VOICE-OVERS!! WTF?!? I've only played it for a bit so far, but when you get an item, Mario will say something along the lines of, "Yep, that'sa jus whati need." It still playable, but it actually takes away from the game somewhat.

And for the GBA remake of DKC 3, those a-holes changed the entire soundtrack.

I still love the game and all, but it takes away quite a bit from the original and that would be Tomb Raider: Anniversary. I don't really like Anniversary's version of City Of Vilcabamba, The Lost Valley, Tomb Of Qualopec, Atlantis... okay, I'll stop there :P. Again, I do enjoy the game, but the original is a lot better if you compare the two, personally.

Most of them? I'm trying to cut back on the rage though. But like iterations of Pokemon that are basically the same with different graphics kind of tick me off.

I'm never going to play that game and I am a huge DMC fan. It made me WTF and get completely disgusted.

Sonic the Hedgehog, atleast the port of it on the GBA...What the....yeah, that game was a complete mess and a shame to such a classic.

Also Mortal Kombat Advance...yeah another horrible port, but one that is probably the most broken game outside of Big Rigs: Over the Road racing

Twin Snakes crapped all over classic MGS, so there's that, and all of Squeenix's 3D remakes of classic FF. I'm against remakes in general, the only one I liked was Resident Evil, and even then I prefer the original's hilarious dialogue.

That game had the same effect on me, until one day a friend had it sitting on pause on his Wii, where I then decided to give it a go. Now, I actually think it is underrated. It is a really really good game. Like most mario games, it takes a minute to get to the beef of the game.

Um, the original is better in just about every way. The classic music of the original was altered for Twin Snakes, and the other big one is the cinematography. For some odd reason they ruined it!!!! It could have been a good game, but TS stinks, majorly. I should have mentioned that in the original post.

Actually, that's one of the only remakes I respected from the start. At least it's a complete overhaul and not some shallow update.

Let me say this again, Super Mario Bros Wii is not a remake or a port in wholly any way. Its a brand new 2D mario games and a follow up to New Super Mario Bros. It is not again a remake or port.

I know its a new game but how can I not compare it to the previous installments in the Mario franchise? Super Mario World is one of my favorite games and to me(from the bit I played of the game) something just felt off about NSMB. I can't place my finger on it but there is something I don't like about that game.

You can compare it to the other games in the franchise, but you cannot cmpare it as a remake as that its not a remake. So being that its not a remake, it does not fit the criteria for this thread....however, again you can compare it, but compare it as a 2D mario against other 2D marios. As a seperate game not a whole new game.

That does remind me of how the GBA remakes of classic Nintendo games (Mario, DK, Zelda, etc.) are really kind of bastardized, though.

I will say that the port of the DKC games were rather poor on the GBA. However the Mario games were quite good imo, they were a bit more on the colorful side, and for the most part were very much the same, except of course the added voice overs and what not. I think the port of Link to the Past was quite good....

The port thought that I personally detest on the GBA is the Final Fantasy VI port. Why? Well the one good thing is that its got a fantastic translation, however the graphics suffered heavily, the music quality was terrible(Not the soundtrakc mind you, the soundtrack itself is brilliant, it was just the sound quality) and the game was far far too easy for me. And despite the soundtrack bieng a purist of sorts I suppose the missing Celes scene bugged me.

I thought this was at least semi-relevant. It isn't a direct remake but it may be considered a remake of the s(this word word filters... idk why)tyle of gameplay.

Yeah but this thread is not about games that are similiar its about remakes and the game is not a remake. So I am simply pointing out that while you can discuss the game its just off topic.

If anythingone can compare say the Allstar compliation. Super Mario Deluxe on the GBC, or the GBA mario ports as those ****fy around port or remake even.

I just thought it was worth mentioning. /Technically/ direct ports aren't remakes either, they're ports. It doesn't really matter if I mention it and if its ever-so-slightly not completely on topic. I acknowledged in my original post that it wasn't a remake, acknowledging that it wasn't necessarily following the root topic so idk why you found it necessary to re-acknowledge what I already had.

Excuse me for budding in here, but don't you realize how butthurt you sound? Instead of whining on and on about how you feel that you should be "allowed" to discuss a new game in a REMAKE thread, perhaps you should just man up and give us your actual reasoning behind such an opinion. "I don't know why, but..." isn't exactly a conversation starter.

Thats the thing though. I really have no solid basis for why I don't like the game. On paper, in theory, knowing the other games I like, I should love this game but I don't. Btw, not really a good first post.

As if you added anything to the conversation. I am simply saying that it does not belong in this thread as that the TC asked for Remakes not new games....the only one angry is you. Not I....

Again the only reason I corrected was this was about remakes. I hav enothing against you but we should try to stay on topic as far as it goes. You should do a thread comparing that game to the other 2D mario games on this thread. That I am sure would spark plenty of conversation. Also feel bad for Mistanutjob, he simply cannot handle the adult conversation you and I were having.

The DS port of Mario 64. They nerf the difficulty by throwing all sorts of random platforms and abilities in, they add multiple characters (Super Yoshiwarioluigimario 64!), and irritating minigames and multiplayer. Made it 'feel' wrong, you know?

But the updated graphics were good in my book.
