remapping key software for games?

i am looking for software that will allow you to remap PC,keyboard keys so that in game you canpress one button for the action. specifically i want to remap a alt+e combo to a single key say the spacebar so everytime in game i hit the spacebar its like i hit alt+e. is there software that does this? i heard about autohotkey but can it do combos like alt-e?
