Hey guys...i have been an avid gamer for the past 20 years.I recently found my Sega Dreamcast burried away in a closet at my parents house.I then hooked it up and played a few classics..mostly marvel v.s capcom.I bring this up because this console was my favorite video game system launch ever.Years before it came out i was hooked and collected all the magazines leading up to the launch.I picked up the system on 9/9/99.Yes i still have my original system, which is mint and has a production date of July 99.I was huge into the arcade scene especially street fighter cross over games.I played the system on and off for 2 years.I then packed everything into a bag and found it 7 years later.I basically made this thread to see if there is anyone out there that has any dreamcast love left?Does anyone play it still?Does the online still work? But i mostly made this for a nostalgia purpose. The 360 and current systems are great. However there is no more arcades around really.I think that the dreamcast was the system for arcade lovers.Every game was nearly arcade perfect.Let me know if you guys have any love left for the white box that couldnt...

Yeah I had a dreamcast and I enjoyed it, but for me there weren't really any true classics to make the system worth keeping. Skies of Arcadia was really the only thing close for me.

Rez, Sonic Adventure 1 and 2 (or maybe just SA1), Samba de Amigo, RE:CV, Shenmue, Skies of Arcadia, Seaman (which I add simply because you can't find anything else like it), DOA2, Crazy Taxi, and Jet Set Radio just to name a few. The dreamcast managed to build up an impressive amount of classics in its tragically short lifespan.

I regret selling my Dreamcast and it's games all those years ago, its still my favorite video game console even though it lasted 2-3 years in the market. The Dreamcast also had one of my favorite games ever made, Shenmue. That game was probably the only time I completed a game 5+ times, it was just that damn good. Now this thread makes me want the Dreamcast back. :( Maybe when I get the extra money, I'll go out and buy a Dreamcast, Shenmue, and Marvel vs. Capcom 2 on eBay.

Yes it was a great launch, I really love that system still. Too bad the support was so short lived.

Ya mvc2 is cheaper for the dc then any other system...try 25-35 bucks versus 65-100.Im playing DOA2 and the graphics are amazing even by todays standards..

Another reason i made this thread...Looking back 20 years i have had every major system (Nes,Genesis,Snes,Saturn,N64,32x,Playstation,Dreamcast,Ps2,Gamecube,Xbox,Xbox360,Wii,Ps3)

I have had to either replace everyone or have sold them except for my dreamcast and snes.It was built so well.I have never had any problems that have plauged the newer systems(DRE of ps2,RROD 360).I was incredibly happy and surprised when it started.

Yes it was the first soul calibur...although the previous game Soul Blade was on the PS1.However there very different. The graphics from the dreamcast version remained the same even still through soul calibur 3.Soul Calibur 4 even looks to be based off of the original.

And then princesszelda bought one too.

So yeah, it still gets some love around here.

Ah yes.....9.9.99.....the day Final Fantasy 8 came out. I remember it well. :D

I bought that instead of a Dreamcast that day. I think Nintendo also had a big N64 release that day, they were both trying to shut SEGA down from the start. I didn't grab my Dreamcast until right before Resident Evil came out. That was the system seller for me.

Yeah, I actually just bought one. I can't believe how many awesome games there are on it, definitely some of the best and most influencial games of all time showed up on this system. Also, I remember on 9/9/99 my third grade teacher made the class cupcakes. Yum :P

the dreamcast it had sooooo much going for it I think if it had come out a year l8er and the xbox never came out we'd be playing the "Dreamcast 2" or something like that right now but the game world would be a very different place lol. IDK i really had fun with dream cast my sister got the year the i got the gamecube (2001) and like I never saw anythign wrong with it, it just kinda died from all the wrong timing!

Ha ha, yeah. What pissed me off was I had it on the ground just for that night...but I guess that's how it always works out.

This thread inspired me to fix my problem. I got one off eBay for $51 including shipping. It's the system with all the cords and box, 3 controllers, a memory unit, 11 games (half of them I could care less about, but it will be fun to try them out), and the web browser disc and some demo discs, which I'll probably just toss. Good enough for me.

My favorite system ever- I only heard about the thing a week or two before launch and asked my dad to stop by the store during his lunch break to see if he could get one.

So many great memories...especially Shenmue.
