Do you have any Aura spells? Â Limit Breaks are quite possibly the most overpowered attack method in the game. Â You know how you can continiously switch characters by tapping triangle again and again in battle right?(I think thats the button). Â If you do this it will increase the likelyhood of a limit break appearing but only do it whilst you either have Aura casted on a character or that character has low health.
It's been a while since I've played this but try using Zell along with the method above and make sure he has a decent STR stat.  Now all you need to do whilst his limit break is going is spam Punch Rush and Booya over and over again, these are the two easiest combos  to do and only require two button presses pair attack.  If you can pull these attacks off at least half a second each.  You will do some serious damage to pretty much any boss in the game.   That's assuming of course you actually bothered to upgrade their weapons but I think junctioning STR matters more.  So junction the best magic into the STR stat.  You could also try Irvines and Squalls limits also(although I think Squall's limit break might have a few AoE attacks which might harm Rinoa, not sure.).  Try refining items into magic also by using your GF abilities.  You can get some of the best spells this way. Â
As far as keeping Rinoa alive. Â Throw some healing spells on her maybe? Â Cast regen on her also? Â You can refine 1 tent into 10 Curagas with the right GF ability( I think it's Sirens ability?). Â So if you have enough tents to make 100 curagas. Â Might be a good idea to junction it to HP if you don't have anything better. Â As far as keep yourself alive. Â Well.. Â Shell magic will reduce the damage of magic based attacks. Â Raising your spirit stat will effect your magic defence. Â So yeah.. Hope that helps in some way. Â
I have three Aura stones. The only person with decent limit break is squall, and the total damage is only up to 1000 What is a decent Str stat? Each of the attacks Zells limit break does does less than 100 damage. What kind of items should I refine? I have no ammo for irvings limit break. I have plenty of Curagas since there is a respawning draw point on the floor with all three elevators.Do you have any Aura spells? To be perfectly honest, it's been so long since I've played the game I couldn't possibly tell you what a decent STRENGTH stat is for that point of the game.  I was most probably so overpowered for this point in the game as I do tend to go for all the best magic and grinding before I go hurling myself at a dungeon.  I remember drawing FULL LIFEs off the raijin and fujin boss battle and 100 auras off the Seifer boss battle.  FULL LIFEs from what I remember are probably best put on the HP stat.   But seeing as your past that you'll have to rely on refining items or drawing the best magic you possibly can off various monsters in the area.Â
As far as refining items.  You probably should experiment with all the GF abilities to see what each of them do.  There is one where you can refine items into ammo for irvine if you have that.  It actually tells you what it's going to refine the item into on the top of the screen before you actually do it.   Or you could just go here;  http://shrines.rpgclassics.com/psx/ff8/refining.shtml and see what refines into what exactly.  Aura stones will only refine into 1 single aura, but if you had fury fragment, they refine into 5 auras.
Also Zell's only doing 100 damage per hit probably because his strength is ridiculously low. Â Need to junction better magic to STR. Â Also keep in mind that the amount of magic also effects how much it increases the stat. Â So if you have 100 ULTIMAS on STR it would most definiately be far better than if you had only 1 ULTIMA on STR. Â You probably already knew this. Â Maybe. Â Just throwing at you all I know lol which is kind of limited. :P
Isn't it automatic? Like, if I have 5 Curagas for Hp, it would be all 5 automatically or would I have ti select how many? I have 8 full lifes, not sure if I remember where I got them. I have 3 aura stones, I didn't draw anything from the Seifer fight. I have no ultima spels and I can't leave the area at the time. I do have shell and reflect, however, reflect does not repel ultima (yet enemies can repel ultima from me???) and the most damage I can do is GF's since I spend 70% of the time healing. Maybe if I displayed my stats it would help?To be perfectly honest, it's been so long since I've played the game I couldn't possibly tell you what a decent STRENGTH stat is for that point of the game.

Not quite sure what you mean in the first sentence. Â There is an automatic junctioning feature in the game I believe. Â It allows you automatically junction magic based on 3 builds. Â Atk, Mag, and Def, Â or you could just do it manually. Â Whichever way you prefer. Â In regards to what I said earlier though. Â If you only have 5 Curagas in HP that would be inferior to having lets say for example 50 or 100 curagas in HP. Â So the more magic in that stat the better basically. Â So get more curagas if you can.Â
As for Ultima not getting reflected. Â It is probably because Adel's version of ultima is designed to hit all party members in the battle. Â Refect however only works against spells that hit a single target. Â Â
If you have an item called Barrier, use it on quistis it'll allow her to learn Mighty Guard limit break. Â Which puts Protect and Shell on all party members. Â Â Chances are you don't have it. :( Â Just throwing a few more things out there that might help.Â
Oh and Haste is always good to speed up your party members in battle.Â
I have haste, the issues is that I need to instantly cast Shell on the party in the first 5 seconds (iuf the random atb generator has it so I can use magic on all 3) before she uses meteor, which will without hsell wipe out zell and can potentially wipe out irving as well.If you have an item called Barrier, use it on quistis it'll allow her to learn Mighty Guard limit break. Haha funny you mention that, that's the exact point where I ended up quitting the game and starting all over because I realized I couldn't win, too weak and I couldn't leave the area (Lunatic Pandora right?) and get better which basically means game over. I'm still unhappy about it too. I remembered I did nothing but spam the gf throughout the entire game because I didn't bother trying to learn the junction system and I just knew it was going to catch up with me at some point and it did unfortunately. You died 5 times? I'm pretty sure I died over 20 times before I realized there's no chance which sucks because I was enjoying the game a lot up until that point.LittleMac19I managed to barely make it, but that is because I think the game glitched and the game didn't realize the atb for adel was over and he did not kill us all with quake at the last second and I was able to get a last hit in. The issue I have been seeing is that levels don't matter, with this fight, I know the majority of the game levels with you, but this fight becomes more impossible the higher the level and rinoa has the same HP regardless of how many levels so you have a higher chance of killing her. All my character are below level 20 except Squall who is level 24, I am going to try to beat the game with these levels instead of leveling up because that would make the game less painful.
Nice, hope you're ready for the upcoming boss battles then... Â Specially the final one. Â That will be a lot harder than Adel. Â Leveling up isn't completely irrelevent, Â Â monsters do get better magic as they level up to. Â So you can draw from them. Â If you can find a place to get Meltdown magic. Â That helps a lot. Â It puts vit-0 status on enemies which will make them far more weaker to physical attacks and limit breaks. Â Works on boss battles also.
Make sure your guardian forces have learned HP+ and STR+ bonuses (the higher the percentage, the better) and make sure they are junctioned to your ability slots. Then draw 100 tornados and 100 regens for all your characters and junction 100 regens to HP and 100 tornados to strength. Also, upgrade your weapons. After doing all that, your characters will have tons of HP and will hit extremely hard. I got my characters' HP in 9000s and absolutely slaughtered Adel. Also, make sure that you are keeping Rinoa healed.
I am already at the part where there is no return though, the part where you have to beat her to leave. My GF's are Infirt, Diablos, Siren, Quezitonia or whatever the lighting one is named, Shive, Brothers, and Pandema or whatever the tornado one is called. Squalls HP is 2226 Zell's HP is 1004 Irvings HP is 1256 All characters except squall are under level 24 with Squall at 24 and the other two in the teens. I can't upgrade weapons because i saved before the fight. Don;t know where if there is an enemy in Lunatic that has tons of regens that is not Rinoa, and not sure if there is an enemy with tornado in LP either, I think there are actually I'll check.Make sure your guardian forces have learned HP+ and STR+ bonuses (the higher the percentage, the better) and make sure they are junctioned to your ability slots. Wow, thats EXACTLY what I would do. Just used GFs and then when I got to Adel it was game over. Couldn't leave to draw better magic, the monsters in lunatic pandora were too low level for some strange reason, so you couldn't level off of them or draw anything amazing from what I remember. By the way, why ARE the enemies in that area level 1?

It almost seems intentional but at the same time I hear if you level higher adel becomes more and more intolerable (if you don't OP your str stat.)Cast a sh!tload  of haste and protective spells and lame it out.Â
Works in most RPGs.
Although i havent played this since i was about 9, at that age i had no idea what i was doing.

Good luck.
I feel you TC. I am at the final boss and am too weak. My party slaughtered everything up to this point too. I rarely use GF's. My issue is my HP is too low so the final boss has an attack that wipes my whole party out every time. I know there are some things I can do like go through my inventory and refine some things. I think I also saved it right before disc 4 just to be safe because I remember reading that once you hit disc 4 there is no return. I just haven't been able to will myself to get back into it. roboccsThe first boss of disc 4 is where the game ends. All the towns are blocked off (Except the useless one with the yellow jello guys) and all the shops in conjuct are closed, so if you are not prepared you will miss out on EVERYTHING except 2 GF's, which I found this out while playing yesterday. Yet you can still get access to the flying ship so very odd. With that said, the game overall was trash, but not as trash as 7, 9, X, X-2, 3, 2, 1, and xii.
Theres a item shop and a weapon shop on the Ragnarok ship if you need it. Â Also the King Tonberry GF has an ability called Call Item Shop. Â Â
You can draw some strong high level magic by going to the islands closest to heaven and hell.  Both these islands have hidden draw points around the edges of the island  which have some high level magic on them.  The draw points also restock but I'm not sure how often they do.  I think once you get all the magic off one island then go back to the other.  They will restock by then.  But watch out for the enemies on these islands, they are some of the strongest in the game.  You might want to get the ENC-NONE ability from the Diablo GF as it will turn all encounters off and make it easy for you to draw off these islands.
Final Fantasy VIII is like, the easiest final fantasy, if you juction correctly.
It really doesn't matter the level your characters have (most enemys, if not all, have the same level average of your party), you can beat anybody easily with these things:
Learn L-Mag RF (Siren), and HP-J, buy about 30 Tents, refine 1 Tent into 10 Curagas and juction it on your HP stat (for lots of HP).
Learn STR-J, and get level 3 magics ("Magicagas"), Waters, Demis, it doesn't really matter, just the ones to get the STR stat to its highest and juction them.
Learn Card-Mod Quetzacolt), Time-Mag RF (Diablos), and any other elemental-Mag RF, and change your cards into items that are worth refining into magics.
Example: Sacred card -> 100 Dino Bones. Use Time-Mag RF on them and get a lot of Quake magic. Diablos Card -> 100 Black Holes. Refine them with Time-Mag RF and get loads of Demi magic (Both are good for STR-J).
Any bosses can be beaten easily with high Str (watch out for elementals), getting higher Hp just makes you harder to kill, even if you have poor SPR and VIT.
Most monsters (no bosses) can be beaten if you have 100 Deaths juctioned on you status attack juction (Good for leveling up fast).
The only thing you need to watch with Adel is Rinoa being attached. Only use attacks that hit a single enemy. If you like, cast Regen on Rinoa to keep her HP high.
Good Luck for Ultima weapon. And pray to God if you encounter Omega Weapon :p
Don't forget to save :p

Ok, this right here I think is all I am missing to beat the final boss. I was keeping my level somewhat low. I understand junctioniong but I get kind of lazy when it comes to sitting and figuring out what to refine, etc. When fighting the final boss, I have squall dealing major damage and Zell does pretty well too, I just don't have really high HP, maybe in the 2000's which is not enough. There is the one summon or magic (can't remember right now, it's been awhile) she does that wipes me out no matter how good I'm doing. I may have to go back and perform this trick and I finally should be able to beat the game. Thanks!![QUOTE="saosebastiao"]Ok, this right here I think is all I am missing to beat the final boss. The Card Mod is way more important on getting important items and getting all kinds of magics.
You could also learn the ability Enc-None from Diablos, and go to the Island closest to Hell/ Heaven (Google images to see where they are) with the Ragnarok. After landing there, Press X like a crazy mofo, and you'll find hidden draw points (while on the World map) with very powerful magics.
Careful, if you don't equip the Enc-None ability, you'll be dealing with very high random encounters (1 second between battles) and Level 100 monsters (If you encounter a Marlboro, either run...or die!). You can level up pretty quickly.
Also, if you want a challenge/level up quickly, go to the world map (bring Zell along), and while the map is on, go on to the south-west corner of the world map. (it's in the ocean).

One other thing I will add is that a great place to visit is the desert (I think it is near the south of the map). If you have the ability to move first you can quickly kill of Cactaurs before they run away and net 20AP whilst only hauling a negligible amount of exp.[QUOTE="roboccs"][QUOTE="saosebastiao"]

I actually do have enc-none. I actually did a really good job collecting the GF's and junctioning things; and I rarely have used the GF's in battle. I just have not refined anything at all, so I totally believe you when you say refining cards and items are the most important- I've mostly used draw to get the magic I have. Overally I felt like a powerhouse and have walked through most of the game really easily up to this point... the final boss just smokes me. I really should try to finish it this weekend, I'm dying to know the ending of what to me has been a pretty good story. Please Log In to post.
