Resident Evil 4 deserved a 10 at gamespot

Nhh18 says that this game is one of the greatest games of all time. The best game of last generation and probably for the decade for that matter. It had everything. Amazing atmosphere, amazing gameplay, amazing game that is virtually perfect. The only other game that is close in the action/adventure genre is uncharted 2 among thieves which nhh18 says is the 2nd best game this generation (just below super mario galaxy 1).

It got a 9.6. I think that's a pretty good score for the game.

I just wish it had a better script. :P (Oh well it IS Resident Evil)

It's indeed a hell of a game, but IMO the bst game last generation and probably for the decade, is Metroid Prime.

On gamespot 9.6 was the highest awarded score after Metroid Prime until 2008. It would of likely got a 10 on the new scale.

Yes it did, maybe it's because they felt a little bit detached from the game since it didn't have zombies anymore(a common complaint) but the game was really long which i liked, it was amazing and it pretty much created the over the shoulder camera style.

I guess I'm in the minority, but RE4 was a 7-8 at very best in my opinion, and it was especially weak compared to the NGC remake of the original, which is still the best RE release to date.

RE4 stripped the series of everything I liked about it; atmosphere, puzzles, and exploration.

Sure, it was a decent game if you treated it as just a 3rd person shooter, but as far as being an atmospheric survival horror game, it simply wasn't one.

Agreed! RE4 on the Gamecube can still compete graphically with the 360 and PS3. But you have to remember, this is Gamespot, which always seems to review games a little lower then most sites. I was shocked when SMG2 got a 10! I don't own a Wii, so it may very well deserve a 10,but I was just shocked because it came from GAmespot.

I agree, before I played RE4, there was no game that had as good atmosphere as it. The whole game was memorable, and it was one of the few games I actually wanted to play again after completing. I was quite disappointed that RE5 went to a more linear direction, it could have been as good or better if they stuck to the open-ness of the last game.-RocBoys9489-

Where is all this "atmosphere" RE4 had? It had NONE of the atmosphere that the survival horror RE games had, and the midget napoloean fella was hilarious, and RE4 was VERY linear, (again, comparing it to the RE games that were survival horror genre)

I think the 9.6 was perfectly fine. As far as best game of last gen goes, I'd take Okami or (like previous people have said) Metroid Prime.GamerForca

Thats exactly it bro, I would have probably liked RE4 if it were the exact game, just without Leon and the RE tag (as in its not related to the RE series)

Its a great game on its gameplay and fun merrits, its just not a particularly good "Resident Evil" game, as its got none of the exploration, puzzles, atmosphere that made the series so great on the PSone.

Its just a shame that RE4 so often gets wrongly labelled as a "survival horror" game when its not one. Thankfully Silent Hill has to this point stuck to the genre (though I haven't played the latest Wii version)

Great game, but I think REmake is a better game. RE4 is truly great, but it falters in the story department. Probably the worst story game, maybe second to 0. That being said, I haven't played 5 yet, and I haven't heard great things about that one either. Anyways, REmake not only has great graphics and gameplay like RE4 (albeit different gameplay), it also has a pretty well done plot for what it was. I think it's a better overall game and a 10 in my book.

RE4 is awesome fast paced thrilling action packed GAME, complete opposite of the Resident Evil games, has anyone played those, they're pretty cool too.

Didn't think anyone could possibly complain about a 9.6 score lol. Personally though, it's still by far my favorite game of all time. Although, i still have yet to play Mario Galaxy 2. Even so though, I don't think I could possibly fall more in love with that then I did with RE4.

I'd say a 9.6 is just about right. I love the game but it was not a 10.

Still it was a blast and out of all the last gen games, I replayed it a lot even though it was single player.

The story and dialogue should always prevent RE4 from getting a 10.It's not much of a horror game is it? Where people really scared playing it?It seems more like a goofy over the top action game.

The score it has is to high to begin with,theres no way it's perfect.
