What do you think about Resident Evil 7 from what you seen?

So far, I find it be the least interesting of the core RE game. Wondering around a place was just boring to me and just took out the survival out of the game which is the most important element of the RE games for me. That not even going one about the one thing that break immersion completely...first person view. None of the trailers make me want to play it and they make me want to skip the game.

I'm a pretty huge Resident Evil fan (2, 4, and ReMake are my current faves) and the demo for this joint blew me away. This might be the most successful tonal shift for the series since 4. Every second of the demo gave me chills and left me wanting more. Phenomenal stuff so far.

I'm very excited for Resident Evil 7 from what I've seen on it so that's a "yay" for me.

It can't be any worse than resident evil 5 onwards, so there's that.

Resident evil has not been survival horror since code veronica, so at least this game looks to be a genuine attempt at horror again at least.

I'm skipping it. I enjoyed the original gameplay style. I enjoyed the RE 4,5,6 play style. What I don't enjoy is first person. It's never belonged in Resident Evil. Not in the PS1 days. Not in the PS2 days. Certainly not this gen either.

Taking the road they did, Capcom should have dropped the "7" and simply had it as a side game or a reboot.

I'm still sceptical because I really enjoyed The Evil Within, and to a less extent enjoyed Revelations 2.

Resident Evil 7 is still a game I will give a try, and from what I've read it's a lot like Remake in first person. I hope that's true, as what I played in the demo it's not very Resident Evil at all.

Played the demo on PC.

Pretty creepy but not enough gameplay to really judge what I played.

How is always taping the 4th wall and practically tell you that your playing a game every time you take damage not immersion breaking? A monster attack you in a FP game and the lame your playing a game and taking damage statement.

It does look different in a bad way but it deserves the benefit of the doubt considering how good of a reinvention RE4 was.

Na. I'm not too crazy about what they did with the reboot. I don't mind the first person view but the whole walking around an abandoned house with nothing there was a pretty huge turn off. I find this reboot to be less interesting than even the poorly rated Resident Evil 6.

The demo was pretty good. It only had one zombie to kill but the design of it was creepy and the gun play felt fitting for a survival horror game.

The multiple ending thing is interesting but if it's like that throughout the whole game I can see it getting a bit annoying and to focused on trial and error. The game pretty much kills you for doing what the game tells you to, but considering you're in a trap set up by a serial killer, that makes sense.

I don't know yet I have bought all the number entries from RE0 to RE6 Including Code Veronica X with the exception to Revelation. This one seems a step in the right direction but the thing is I'm not a fan of FPS. However, I played Dues Ex Human Revolution and started to taking a liking to this aspect. I will buy it but not straight away.

What I like about the RE games is that they made it so the older games matter and there was a progression from people being scared to people understanding and able to fight back.

The problem comes from how horror and game play have a fundamental opposed. For good horror to work they need hurt the game play and for good game play you need to hurt the horror aspect of it.

The problem with the newer RE games like 4, 5, and 6 was that they gave up on the survival aspect of the games. The new RE seem to do the same thing with the focus on something that was minor in the other games. It is sad they take out the survival from the survival horror franchise that coined Survival Horror.

I've try the demo and it was good. But the running speed appear to be too slow for me. Still it look like a good game. Also, I'm not very interested in the genre: I prefer to have my guns than be the pray.

I refuse to look at the trailers or play the demo. Franchises I'm pretty loyal to or excited about (LIKE RE) I try not to see any spoilers. If it is rated pretty well by critics (cumulatively 80+), I'll pick it up for sure, with the hope that it is a direct descendant of RE 4, which was AWESOME.

@wiouds: It's looking good, but the series has had such a long string of bad games i'm not sold entirely. I'll wait for it to come out and see what people have got to say about it.

I haven't played 7 yet but I watched Markiplier let's play of it and it was terrifying in some spot and stupidly tense in other spot.

To me the game succeeded where 4-5-6 and maybe revelation fell, namely the survival aspect in a dire situation.

If it isn't the mold monster or someone of the familly that try to kill you, you have space management and then you end up in a new place that is creepy as ****. It really pays homage to RE1 -2 and 3 in my mind.

Beat it in 14 1/2 hours and I'm currently going through Madhouse Mode. Shit is RED HOT. It covers all the signposts Resident Evil fans require with a fresh coat of paint, refined gameplay, phenomenal voice acting (head and shoulders the best the series has ever seen), and some of the best horror atmosphere I've ever experienced.

Yay. Big ol' yay.

I really enjoy the game so far. It goes back to more survival horror, which is what I enjoyed most about the RE games. RE 2 was my favorite (yes I know the acting was awful) until Biohazard. Now Biohazard is my favorite. Game just has more depth than the others imo.

The demo and aids look to much like silent hill games and I never like them. I may try to play a friend one.

All in all, it's very well worth the trip! All of my answers answered, all of my worries put to rest. I finished it too by the way. Without spoilers, I'll say this....

1. First off, this is definitely not a reboot or reimagining of any kind. The past games still happened and everything we know about the universe is still there.

2. Despite what the demo may show you, it actually gets VERY Resident Evil-ish after an hour or so into the game. Still alot of zombie carnage, still has grindhouse action and there's PLENTY of guns, ammo and weapons to play with! The puzzles are also very creative and have alot of tact to deal with.

If these two were things you were concerned about then rest easy, it's still very much OUR old Resident Evil. I loved it through and through! 9/10 A bit short for me but I sort of cheated with strategy guides.

Whenever I play a horror game the realization that the scares present are their most effective the first time I encounter them are always at the forefront of my mind, so I savor every second. Take for example that bit near the beginning where you hear creepy breathing coming from the bottom of that pitch black staircase. It took me a full 20 seconds to descend because I was so shit scared into it (earphones on, pitch black at 11 pm). That scare will never be as effective again, so I chose to savor it, much like I did every other moment of the game.
