I played the original resident evil on playstation many many times. I remember it took like 5-6 bullets to kill a zombie. I started the remake yesterday. I started on EASY setting and was killed by the FIRST ZOMBIE! I stabbed him a good 10 times and he didnt go down. Later i had to put 10 bullets in a zombie before he died. Is this game hard or what?

the gamecube version is so easy, one shot gun to the head boom saves ammo and they fall down easy. i manage to get the rocket launcher in gc version under 4 minutes i believe.

To validate both types of players, yes, the GC version is quite a bit harder than the original, but I think that was one of the things that was better about it. It was a remake, you already know where everything is, so they changed it up. Its the same game, but at the same time it isn't. Just wait until some of the rougher boss battles. This is traditional of Japanese games and having played the Japanese version of this game, it's very similar (if not identical) to its Japanese GC counterpart, so obviously it's harder.

Take your time, save often, get used to the game over screen. You'll eventually beat it and have a good time doing it.

Basically you need to conserve ammo and try to conserve health. If you can do that, the game is not hard. Also, do not waste ammo on the crazy monster girl who chases you around when you can help it.

Hmm, it's funny to me that so many people are commenting saying that the Gamecube version was, in fact, harder. I totally believe it, but as one poster basically expressed themself, I definitely don't see it as a bad thing; we need more games that can kick your ass and leave you begging for more.

The game is not hard. Harder than the original? Possibly.

That doesnt make it hard. If you think it is, then you really need to play invisible enemy mode, or whatever the name of the mode is where Forrest Speyer (i think) chases you from room to room with grenades strapped to him. (Unless that was just a joke, I never bothered to try to unlock it)

really, huh to tell you the truth i find the original abit harder than the remake, well i mean it was petty hard at first but once i got used to it i can plan my actions and the things i want to do first and last alot easier in the remake and in the original i still die once or twice every now and then and i have this playthough going right now in the remake as jill and i have like 6 green herbs, 3 green and reds mixed and 6 f-aid sprays and in the original i only have like 3 greens, one mixed and maybe sometimes one f-aid spray

so i have to say i feel the remake is alot easier especially the hunters they are alot tougher in the original (do you think the hunters are easier in the remake or harder?? )

I thought it was about average difficulty, lol unless you have to fight a crimson head, then that is a whole other story.

It's longer, for sure. So that alone ups the difficulty, because you have to survive longer. And the longer the game goes, the harder the average enemies become, where zombies once were, later there are Crimson Heads and Hunters. Speaking of Crimson Heads, they make the game harder, too. I definetly had more trouble with the Cerebus Dogs, too. In the original it was easy to fill full of handgun bullets because they'd fall after each shot, no in this one.

But the remake is just so cool looking and has such a creepy atmosphere to it. The lighting effects are some of the best I have EVER seen, including current-gen games.

the main reason its harder is the ai. in the original resident evil the zombies would often walk into walls for no apparent reason. the inclusion of crimson heads also makes the game a hell of a lot tougher.

what did you think of the hunters?

i was abit disappointed i think they could have made them alot harder

in the original if they wanted to cut your head off they immediatley do it in the remake they roar at first which gives you enough time (if you are close enough) to run by them and get out of there

they have lower health i think

the better shotgun you get from richard makes it abit easier to kill them and knock them down and in the remake they take longer to get up than the original but they do look alot cooler though

Just make sure that you incinerate all zombies soon after putting them down That way they won't become crimson heads. Other than that I didn't think it was too hard.

Great game in the series. Trumps RE4 and the rest of the over-the-shoulder BS games with ease. But it was a tad harder, I think. Benchmark for a RE games, in my opinion. When they went to the shooter stuff in RE4, I lost interest completely. Thank God I still own all the old ones, I can't stand where the series has gone of late.

the beauty of this game is just in its frantic paranoia created from undead that once beaten if not burned or shot in the head come to life ferocios and unstoppable or almost, my advice is burning fast all the corpses, with chris you have lighter so get bottle, with jill you must have lighter and bottle in equipment

It felt the same as the original to me. Though IMHO the original was much harder. Mostly because the camera and movements were more stiff then the remake.

Me too. I'm going back through both RE0 and RE on the Cube. That and RE Code Veronica on the Dreamcast. I'm thinking of popping in some Dino Crisis, but I think I'll wait til I blast through these Resident Evils first.

I like both types. I'd be lying if I said I didn't just love RE4, and RE5 was a fun little game too. But it really would be nice for the old school games to get thrown a bone. Like maybe porting the REmake and Zero to PSN w/trophy support. But, oh well. At least they're BC on Wii, and re-released on Wii. The classic controller support for REmake is a godsend, that tiny little d-pad on the GC controller is so uncomfortable, and I never liked using the stick in that game.
