0 and 1 are on the GC with modern graphics. 2 and 3 were PS1 ports, but they're the best-looking versions of the games. Still with 2, I think the N64 version is my favorite one thanks to the control schemes...
As for Code Veronica X, there's no question that the GC version is the best one. The better graphics of the DC version (yes, it happened that way) with the extra content of the PS2 version.
Gamecube- REmake, RE2 port, RE3 port, RE0, RE4, RE Code Veronica X
PS2- RE4, RE outbreak, RE code veronica, RE Dead Aim
PS1- RE1, RE2, RE3, RE Survivor
I'd go with all the games on Gamecube, then pick up the remaining ones for the PS2
[QUOTE="willxcool"]ps2 vertion is better due to the control and picturesMAILER_DAEMONControl and pictures? :?
[QUOTE="Yagami-Iori"]Dreamcast RE. Oh yeah, I went there.krunkfu2
Why?
I felt that the controls were tightest on there. I wasn't a fan of the analog on GCN or PS2, so that makes a big difference. The DC RE: CV, RE3, and RE2 all look & play smoother, IMO.
I agree with the other posters here - go with the Gamecube versions.
The ports of RE2 and RE3 are from the Dreamcast - not the PS1 versions. I have both anyway and can tell you the GC versions are far superior - graphically and loading times. Regards RE2 originally on 2 PS1 disks - the GC version is on 1 disk - where you can select Leon or Claires story from the main menu. The GC version also has the "Arranged" mode of RE2 unlocked from the beginning which is great.
Code Veronica X is better on the GC for loading times too.
Resident Evil 4 is better on the GC for better graphics, loading times and cut scenes - which are generated in game, as opposed to PS2 which are poor quality FMV.
I was shocked that CAPCOM made an exclusive deal with Nintendo to do only Resident Evil on the Gamecube (Agreement ended after RE4 - where the PS2 port had some additional gameplay elements: Adas Report, so get both if you are a collector)
In fact there was so little Resident Evil on the PS2, I bought the special edition Resident Evil 4 Gamecube and have all the games released in the Resident Evil series for it.
If you have the cash get them all. I have over 170 PS2 games, 40 PS1 games, but I have 8, yes 8 Gamecube games (6 Resident Evil, Rogue Leader and Eternal Darkness) . So if you get the console, you will be limited to what other games you can get. But I don't really need any other games on the Gamecube.
Decision as to what to do when Resident Evil 5 comes out - if they do a Wii port (unlikely) then I might get a Resident Evil Wii. If not - I'm split between a XBOX360 and PS3...
Code veronica alsoGo with the Gamecube. All the main Resident Evil games are on there:
Resident Evil Remake, RE0, RE2, RE3, and RE4

Get the Gamecube Versions if you can:
1. Faster Loading Times
2. It looks nice on your shelf when you see these 7 games:
Part 0, 1, 2, 3, Code V, 4, RE Chronicles
:D
Thanks for all of your feedback everyone, you've been very helpful.
Now, didn't the first RE come out on PS1? At what point did RE become such a Nintendo franchise? This is a little confusing, considering Nintendo is not known for it's mature titles, but Sony is.
Since gamecube... nintendo did a contract or something so that they could have all the games and stuff on their system, probably to attract more buyers and to get rid of their "Kiddy image"Thanks for all of your feedback everyone, you've been very helpful.

You DO need a PS1 memory card to play those versions, though. It's another reason why, if you're going to get them now, the GC versions are the best to get.

What happened is that Nintendo and Capcom signed a monster contract that made it where all the RE canon games would be ported to the GC as well as the creation of three new games (REmake, RE0, and RE4) which would be exclusives (well, that was the plan back then anyway :P). It also gave Nintendo five more exclusives in the form of the Capcom 5 which you may remember hearing about, those games being Viewtiful Joe, RE4, Killer 7, P.N.03, and the aptly named Dead Pheonix which was cancelled.
Anyway, the contract (which was quickly broken by Capcom many times because that company can't resist porting everything they make 50 times) was only for those games which is why RE5 is on PS3 and X360. Part of it was Nintendo trying to get rid of their kiddy image back when they were still trying to directly compete with Sony and MS but the other, bigger reason was that Nintendo was trying to get the 3rd party exclusives that the GC so desperately needed. And considering that the original plan was for 7 capcom exclusives that was one hell of a contract (until one got cancelled, three got ported, and one sucked. Rumor has it this is the reason that you don't see any Capcom characters in SSBB).
