Hey Guys, I was just needing a few opinions on whether purchasing Retro Gaming DVD Classic Game ROMS which give the major advantage of holding 1000-3000 ROMS on 1 DVD, for systems such as Sega Genesis, NES, SNES to be played on any PC, with no wires, no clutter etc or go out and buy the original systems & games instead???... I like the latter, old fashioned route but this is more pricey & alot more bedroom clutter. What would you do???...

The 1000-ROM DVD's you're talking about are almost certainly illegal. They're also of dubious quality. Even professional emulation jobs like the ones Digital Eclipse does (for classics collections on modern systems) aren't always perfect, and the stuff available at the pirate level is often garbage. Frame-rate problems, sound glitches, inaccurate speed, etc. are all things you'll encounter with unoffical ROMs. Also, buying pirated games only encourages the pirate community and leads to greater harm to the legitimate games industry.

If you want to play classic games, wait for an official classics disc or get the original system. Nothing quite matches the feel of the orginal controller, anyway.

I swear by old consoles and have a ton of them. I guess if you aren't old enough or never played the original games, the roms would be no big deal. But to those people who played Atari2600/Genesis/etc, having the controller in your hand is part of the experience. Although it does suck to drag out old consoles for one sitting. Theres just something cool about having the cart in your hand.
