Since GTA V launch they have added so much free content to the game without asking for a dime. If it were EA or crapcom the game would be full of micro transactions. I applaud rockstar for supporting this great game and adding so much free content.

@mastermetal777: absolutely correct. But! If you're determined, you can save enough money for everything. So what it comes down to is that everyone benefits because some people buy money. The community also benefits because everyone gets all the same dlc. There's no splitting up of the community.
Yeah those micro transactions are there for the weekend warriors who don't play much. I've never been given a single dollar from Rockstar as far as in-game money, and I've never purchased game cash, yet I still own just about everything you can own in GTAO.
Buying cash, or being given it would make the game very boring, imho.
Sure, but let's be honest here, most of this free content should have been in the games launch. GTA online was completely terrible when it first came out.
Oh my God, they actually finished the online part of the game. *applauds*
Rockstar is probably the most overrated developer in the world.
Rockstar should really be praised
Oh really, wanna explain to me why Rockstar should be praised when they treat PC players like second class and not launch it with the rest of consoles? Before you even call me a PC player, [I actually game more on consoles then PC and yes, I play GTAV on Xbox 360 at launch] Rockstar didn't even bother to work on PC when they could have just work on that then the next-gen version and your asking me they should be praised? Screw Rockstar. They treat PC like crap all of a sudden.

18 months for Heists. Lmao. I'd agree too if it wasn't for Valve existing. Rockstar is rght there with 'em though.

Ya Rockstar should be praised for the "competence" they have showed in getting heists out and GTA IV out for PC. They are the shining beacon every developer should try to be. Set a date and then push it back again and again and again and again and again.
And then still release a port that we all know will be absolute something.........

"Since GTA V launch they have added so much free content to the game without asking for a dime."
To be fair, GTA 5 launched in an unfinished state, with literal Coming Soon banners across some of the options in the pause menu.
So...should we really be praising a company for finishing their game, months/years after release?
if there's a developer that should be praised it's CD RED PROJEKT for giving a DRM free game with 16 free dlcs , RockStar is all about money
@firefox59: I think Valve is overrated in the sense that I don't think their games are God Tier, but they're still great. The ones they actually release are, anyways. But with Rockstar, I find their storytelling to be inconsistent and mediocre, the gameplay is ALWAYS clunky and gets in the way of itself and their campaigns are far too packed with unfun missions. Seriously, RDR has a good while before anything fun happens and for every fun mission in GTAV, there was one where all you did was drive way too long and do nothing fun (plus, who the hell asked for yoga in the game?). In other words, Valve games tend to be consistently fun while Rockstar is all over the place.
Still no PC version and I am sure when it gets released it will have shitty optimization. Yeah no. CDPR is much better.

The only Rockstar game I've enjoyed recently was Max Payne 3 as I didn't really expect much from it but liked it quite a bit. Right when RDR starts to get good you get to Mexico and then the game just plummets from there. GTA hasn't been good since 3. I'm honestly worried about MGS 5 because Kojima was like I want to make my game like GTA 5.
My problem with Valve is that they get too much undeserved credit. Half life was a long fricken time ago. Never understood L4D. Gets old after a couple hours. Portal wasn't even their developed IP, they just purchased it. And how the courts ruled in favor of them ripping of the DOTA name is still boggling to me. I know people love TF2 but for the life of me I can't figure out why. Every match I've ever played is a destruction for one side. Other than the maps being asymmetrical idk how a game with identical characters on either side can be so imbalanced but it is.
When it comes to marketing, value, and overall gameplay experience. Rockstar is the measuring stick as far as I'm concerned. Unlike EA or Ubisoft, they only release games that are completely and 100 percent finished and ready to meet the consumers' expectations.
@jdfan56k: You mean like how it took them a year and a half or however long to make the GTA online mode good?
@firefox59: I didn't even think RDR was good in the beginning. Once you got into more shooting missions, which seems to be the only thing they do remotely well, it was fine but anything outside of that was honestly just annoying and made worse by the fact that John Marston handles like he has an elephant sized shit in his pants (same with GTAV).
I don't think anyone can match the quality of the open-worlds found in Rockstar games. A lot of people are criticizing Rockstar and GTA V for "releasing an unfinished product," but the single player which was the most important aspect was fully working and completed at release. While online features were delayed, I think the game that shipped was more than enough to satisfy plenty. This is coming from someone who doesn't particularly enjoy GTA due to being overwhelmed with options, but I can still marvel at their achievement.

GTA5 online is built on MICRO TRANSACTIONS.
