Why don't they make more of these? Like Fallout 3, Mass Effect and especially the Kotor games were amazing, but truthfully thats all there is. Why can't they make a black hawk down rpg? or a halo one. I honestly would love to spend my money on games like these and I think they would go huge. What do you think?

i actually wish they would make more rpgs in the mold of ffx and such, but to answer your question it takes a lot of time and production costs to create such expansive games.

Most gamers who get past their adolescent years find RPGs to be the most satisfying gaming experiences. Unlike FPS which focus primarily on combat, a good rpg has it all. Solid combat, good story, character interaction, the players choices effecting the environment/story etc. For all the good in an RPG they are also the most difficult games to design because they require work in nearly every area of design unlike other genres where the design efforts can be more focused to specific gameplay elements.

I think that is why they are rare, simply they are more time consuming and expensive to develop. However, I dont think you'll get much of an argument from experienced gamers if you claimed that a solidly built RPG is the best gaming experience out there.

I would love to see more RPG's as long as they mix it some what.

While the standard Dungeons & Dragons fantasy set-up is fun I'd wouldn't mind some variety. We need more modern day, sci-fi, supernatural, oriental, steam punk, and historical themed RPG's. Don't do away with the standard fantasy all together, just mix it up some.

Another place I would like to see some changes are the stories. I don't know about you, but I am getting tired of being able to boil down almost all RPG stories down to the old "save the day" format. One of the biggest reasons I liked Planescape : Torment is that it doesn't have the standard RPG story. They don't have all dark and menacing either.

They should stop making pointless one sided games like dw, and put their efforts into a great game that will make them ten times the money . People have gotta stop being lazy.

and don't get me wrong, I like the dw series. But wouldn't it be that much better if you could like go to an ancient chinese camp and talk to people, have a place. and have like relationships that affect how your team fights, create bodyguards and train them and just have the freedom? It could make the game that much better.

That's one of the biggest draws to games, though. To have the feeling that you actually matter in the grand scheme of things. To feel as though your actions will effect a large number of people, saving lives (or destroying them in some games). That's why I dont' play games like The Sims. If I want to experience daily life, I'll live my own...
