If you're talking about game boy advance games, I've heard that some of them use save batteries, while others don't. I don't know the details beyond that .

From what I understand SNES cart batteries last about ten years or so. I'd guess GB and GBC carts that use them won't last that long. Unfortunately you will lose that save data, it's only a matter of time. You can replace the batteries, it's not that hard but doing so will erase your save files. So you can wait for them to go or you can swap out the battery for a new one and lose them anyway. I know it sucks, I've got a FF III SNES cart with three saves from three different plays with over 99:99 on them. That was about half of my fifteenth year of life right there and it's all going to go up in smoke. At least we have the memories.

It's inevitable sir. Depending on which you're talking about it varies between 5 and 10 years. GBA games usually use a flash for save games, so you're safe on that part. But it does require a battery for some game aspects like clocks and such in some games.
