Scariest character/creature you have encountered in gaming.

As a child, for some reason the jumping red spiders in Tomb Raider II scared the s*** out of me :P

/thread. Alma had her moments, but nothing compared to good ole' PH.

- Bloodsuckers from the STALKER universe (mainly the first one you encounter, and the suspense in other parts of the story, knowing that Bloodsuckers might be around)

^They're nearly invisible until they get close enough to attack you.

- At the time, the first few Regenerators (and I guess Iron Maidens) in Resident Evil 4

Ghosts in Morrowind. They looked so scary back then, and they would surprise the hell out of me. I entered a cave one time, and two ghosts were flying down the corridor. I rushed out of there.CRS98

Those monster hybrids in Penumbra: black plague, I always crapped my pants when one of them spotted me. I remember using a god mode cheat near the end just to calm myself down a bit (I tried to finish the game in one sitting, so my nerves where wrecked near the end)

I had never played Tomb Raider 2, but I just watched a YouTube video of the spider cave you speak of, and yeah those are scary too. lol They just come in out and of the darkness and they're huge. I just can't do spiders.FireXxAnts

Might have depended on how you where playing at the time man...

Late at night with the lights out playing for hours after having splattered skull, sawed people in half, blown brains out, being chased around by fetish pig dude with a chainsaw, was really quite freaky.

Doom 3 in general Scared me i played in the dark all lights turned out and surround sound on and i just hear Demonic chanting and Crying scratching Audio was awesome in that game .

Easily the dogs jumping thru the windows in RE1. I just happened to hit that part very late at night (at the time I was about 16-17 or so) and my parents were out of town and our house was dark and the room I was playing in had one side that was windows floor to the roof. I'd just gotten over being spooked by seeing the first Zombie, then those damn dogs. Never been more scared during a game than then.btaylor2404

Though I haven't personally played it, I'd probably go with Giygas from Earthbound.

Well besides Pyramid Head from Silent Hill, Mr. X from Resident Evil 2 was also scary. I still remember when he would turn a corner out of nowhere. :P

I was just about to choose the man-cougar from RDR until I saw your post. Damn.

Some of the scariest characters I've seen in gaming are the Taken from Alan Wake, especially the ones with axes.

The crazy butcher in Hitman: Contracts. Everything about it makes it creepy; the music, the creepy yellow tinted lighting, the dead chick hanging upside down.

This came straight to mind. Hilarious, but at the same time very distubing and creepy.
