The Silent Hill series and the Fatal Frame series are both extremely creepy. I usually don't get scared a lot, I'm usually sort of numb when watching a hororr movie or playing most horror games (that includes you Resident Evil, a boo! moment or two does not a scary game make), but the creepy and opressive atmospheres of those games get to me.
I'm surprised no one has said eternal darkness. I was like 13 or so when the game came out and when I was hanging out with a friend to play it we both almost crapped outselves. The volume bar from the sanity effects looked exactly like the one on his tv and when we saw it we both looked at each other because the tv remote was halfway across the room... Talk about being freaked out.
well, i have RE4 for the wii and i must say it does have some scary parts.. Like the village at night with all the sick people.. or when you're ashley in the castle, and you're walking around in that dark part with only a flashlight and there are **** loads of armored knights there.
oh, and in the sewers!! you know, that dark boss! god..
