Because it is. :( Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth Resident Evil 1 & 2 when you're a kid. Silent Hill 2 was more creepy than scary for me. and I've never played any of the Fatal Frames.
When FEAR went with its horror theme, it really scared the crap outa me. Then the mutants in STALKER. The first time the mind mutant showed up and killed me I litterally jumped out of my seat.
I love scary games, mostly because I'm scared for the first couple of levels and then I get used to it. The scariest games for me have to be Condemned, the Resident Evil games and Silent Hill
I think the Gears of War bit is part of the poster's sig, seeing as it doesn't show up when quoted, and isn't connected to this topic. Judging by his profile pic, he's a gears fan, and is not saying it's scary.
Eternal Darkness is the only game that I cant play before I go to bed, any other game and im fine. Eternal Darkness isnt "Boo!" Scary, it just gives you really un easy feeling in the pit of your stomach...Like everything is wrong.
I honestly didnt find silent hill 1,2,4 to be that scary.
A lot of horror games suffer from the same problem, give the player power, they will not be scared. When yo start getting tons of ammo and stuff, the game just isnt scary anymore.
Anyone who says any Resident Evil game is deserving of some form of punishment. Bioshock was scarier than Resident Evil. My vot would go to either Condemned or Doom, although Doom is based on what I hear, as I've never played it.
