The scariest part for me was having to reload when a bunch of necromorphs were running at me and I was out of stasis.

Being trapped in a room with that invincible Necromorph and a bunch of other enemies with hardly any ammo and very little health.

any of the things on the walls that would spit kidney beans out of their stomach and shoot you... whenever they would yell, late at night... so scary

*SPOLER* Whenever you have to run around the space ship and you have to start the engines and the invincable necromorph were chasing after me with low yellow health and barely any ammo except for the ripper.

The ending, or when the lights were shut out in the bathroom area the second time thru. Fantastic game, made to be played in the dark with a killer sound system.

There were a couple points that come to mind. Right at the beginning when you get chased down the hallway with no gun. Then when you have to get away from the regenerating necromorph moving all the bunks, that was pretty scary. And lastly I would say the final cut-scene scared me as well.

I found the first 2 chapters to be the scariest, then I slowly became desensitised to the game's style. But ...

Everytime a giant tentacle grabbed you, I yelled

The six arms laying in an inexplicable occultist circle unnerved me greatly

The first room in chapter 10 with the latterns and dead people...

IMO chapter 5 and 10 is the scariest moments in dead space, because of that god-damn regenerator:cry:

The only part that startled me was the very start when you have to run to that elevator and one breaks in.... other than that I found the game surprisingly easy and not scary....

the 1st level is the scarriest part of dead space. So many popouts. You can tell they really tried to make the 1st level draw you into the gameplay

I just started playing and it's alot cooler then i thought :D

I don't like to scary games like Silent hill or Siren but i like Dead space alot,

Just at chapter 2 tough but when i read these comments i'm up for some fun moments haha :D

The game was uniformly scary throughout, but one thing that always rattled me and caught me off guard is when a necro is feigning death.. you see them lying on the ground, presumed dead then when you get close they get the jump on you. It catches me EVERY time.
