i have one... i think.
it's doing me no good. i'd let you have it, but... i don't have anything to mail it in.
but there's also an auction going now on ebay for one and a some cables. $12 and some change.
The Mega Drive model 1 works perfectly with the two versions of the Mega-CD. The Model 2 is the one who will only work with a model 2 Mega-CD.
The base expansion should come with the Mega-CD package. (or at least that's how it was sold originally) It is preferably to use t, However it is not necessary and you can do without it and the system will work perfectly.
Those of you claiming that a model 2 genesis won't work with a model 1 sega cd are wrong. It's perfectly doable, but it's freaking ugly (even moreso than a Model 1 genesis hooked up to a Model 2 sega cd). Your best bet aesthetically though will always be using a model 1 cd with a model 1 genesis and a model 2 cd with a model 2 genesis, although model 1 cd drives are a lot rarer (they were more expensive to produce).
