Name-wise, I like Genesis better.

Sounds like 'birth/beginning'. Sega was kinda after the birth of the 'next-gen'. Trying to jump-start the 16 bit era.

Technology-wise, Genesis (to me) represents the US, Mega Drive (to me) represents Europe and Japan. Same technology.

Mega Drive is the better name. Actually Genesis didn't fit at all with the rest of the names SEGA gave to their consoles and add-ons.

Mega Drive was also the official name of the console in all the world but the three countries of North America, due to naming licensing problems.

I prefer Genesis.

And I also prefer NES and Super NES over Famicom and Super Famicon. You know, in case you're looking for a future random poll idea.
