I remember getting one near the end of my childhood and their was just something so mystical and neon-futuristic about It.

Plus you had awesome games like Astal, Clockwork Knight, Albert Odyssey: Legend of Eldean, Nights into Dreams etc

Sure the PSX, N64 etc were great systems and held their ground very well but there's still something just amazing that stands out in my mind about the Sega Saturn.

Looking back I regret selling mine and Ithink I may buy one again in the future ( I guess I can only get a used one and used games at this point ) I think I got ripped off trading my mine, IIRC Itraded It in plus all my games for It towards a gamecube or something at my local gamestore.

Only games I missed that I want to play are Panzer Dragoon Saga, Princess Crown, and Radiant Silvergun. Other than that, I think nostalgia plays a big part in why we miss some of these old consoles.

The saturn was a pain in the ass to program for, which is why many developers steered clear of it. The problem was that the Saturn was originally designed to play 2d games, but once Sega started seeing how that 3d gaming was the wave of the future, they did a sort of last minute modification and added a 3d chip to the saturn; needless to say, it was a mess and made it extremely different to program 3d games on it.

For sure nostalgia plays a big role. My first console ever was the original NES, and nostalgia gives me such good thoughts about games like TMNT, Mario Bros, Gauntlet etc for It. Because It was largely how good I was feeling on the inside and how magical It was to first discover that that made It so mind blowing.

I wholeheartedly agree. Throughout my gaming experience, the Saturn has to be the most memorable for me. I can't really put my finger on why it was but it just was for me for some reason. I can't ever recreate that feeling I had playing games when I did with the Saturn.

Yeah, the Saturn definitely is an underrated console. I got one for the first time early this year, and have been very happy with it. I still have several games that I want to play on it, even the ones that are said to be bad like Sonic R.

Inbetween Iron Storm, Dragon Force, the VFs, Fighter's Megamix and the Panzer Dragoons the Saturn had some wonderful games, but second to the Gamecube, its probably the system I played the least of all the systems I've owned. Third party support was abysmal and for whatever reason Sega itself didn't seem to be quite as good as it was in the days of the Genesis.

Last but not least, the fact the Saturn was Sega's focus only for roughly two years was a disgrace. Towrrds the end Sega of America seemed to begrudge Saturn owners games (Okay you jerks, you're going to get Panzer Dragoon Saga, but we're only going to ship five copies and that's it. You all really should be saving your money for the Dreamcast).

While I agree that the Sony Playstation had a superior library of games, there was just something special about the Sega Saturn. Dreamcast is a really interesting and cool system too, but I like the PSX a little better ^_^ Although they are all master pieces in there own right.

I didn't care about how the Saturn's library of games stacked up against those of any other system (it was the only system I owned). What bothered me was the fact that good to great games were very rare and towards the end of the Saturn's life, so hard to find (due to the fact most of them saw only limited release).

The Saturn had quite a lot of good games in Japan, but sadly the games didn't really have any appeal to anyone outside of Japan.

I always plan to get one, but I already have enough games to play...

I personally liked the Dreamcast more, but the Saturn was a fairly underrated system. Like others have said, it did have a lack of third party games and most of the best stuff on it hasn't left Japan or is extremely rare, but with excellent games like Sega Rally Championship, Radiant Silvergun, and the Panzer Dragoon series (just to name a few), it remains one of my favorite systems out of what I own.

Because it isn't possible to just believe someone has a different opinion and that taste is subjective. No sir, not on the internet.

And on the internet, irony is regularly mistaken for serious talk :P
