How many of you have considered selling all of you old systems and games? How many of you have actually done it? If you were to sell them, why would you do it? Would it be for money? Extra space? Something else?

For those of you who have sold your old systems, do you regret it? Did you end up buying them back?

Discuss.

I sold my PS2 plus all my PS2 games and PS1 games to get some games for my Xbox 360. I regret it a lot now, and eventually will buy it back along with more games then ever.

Although I didn't have many games for these systems atthat time, I sold my DC and PS2. I've bought both consoles again and wouldn't do it again. Too much regret and isn't worth it.

I would love to say I'd never do it, but I have. I sold my Kiwi Green GBC and my Pokemon Red along with a few other games a long time ago when I was still just a stupid kid. I regret it, as now I had to get a teal GBC that is missing the battery cover to replace it. I also got Pokemon Blue, and miss my Red. Oh well.

Then a while ago I traded my PS2 for a coin that was worth considerably more, but that was because I lost all the cords for the system. Then I ended up regretting it when I found the cords in my backpack with all my gaming stuff. What I wouldn't do to get another of those.

That is the extent of my selling, and now I wouldn't get rid of anything unless I had a double, or I could get something super rare for a bunch of really common games.

I couldn't sell my retro collection anyway. I'm too much of a retro gamer for that. I'd die if anything happened to my stuff. I've spent soo much money on it all.

I regret selling my Genesis + Sega CD + many, many games back in my childhood. Now I would love to have my old Genesis collection back. I got rid of at least 50 of my SNES games, too, although I still have my SNES and about 30 games, but I'd like to get back a lot of those games, too. In rage I threw away all my PS2, PS1, and Dreamcast games and really wish I didn't. Now I'd like to get back all of my RPGs and SRPGs I had on the PS1 and PS2. I considered the Dreamcast a lost cause and gave it away a few months ago. But I'm sticking with the PS2.

Over the years I have sold stuff. I have even given stuff away. It's hard to get money when you are younger, and EB Games you to have much more favorable trade in prices. I don't really have any regrets because you have to do what you have to do when you are young and want to play games. I think I have pretty much got back 99% of anything I had lost over the years. Up until I was 18 I probably had about 50 games bought for me, or I bought with holiday money. Now I have around 700-800 (I haven't unpacked everything yet).

When I was about 19 I pretty much was out of gaming and I gave away a Sega CDX. That I DO regreat, and it's probably the only thing. They are right around $200 on Ebay right now, and that is about $150 more than I would be willing to pay for one being that I have 5 Genesis' and 3 Sega CDs. But it was unique and I kick myself over it all the time. As for now,

I chewed someone a few hours ago for bashing people who buy games as a hobby. I'm 30 now, and I never see myself selling my collection for any reason! I take great pride in the things I have aquired, and the condition they are in. The stuff is fun to play, and display how you want it. I think it's a great hobby. I mean, if I were sick or lost my job, and needed money to live and I could get like ten grand for the collection, I guess that's life with any collection.

I've always sold most of my older consoles and only have my old NES from when I was really little and a few handhelds. Always just get the most current systems and sell off or trade in my old ones. I keep the best games from my old consoles though @_@. It takes up too much space to have all those old things hangin around.

Yeah, another reason why I sold my systems back in the day. My mom wouldn't have appriciated me having 10 systems hooked up, even in my room. Then I had a few apartments with room mates and what not. Not the biggest places either (and even drunk girls think 10 video game systems is a bit nerdy). But now I have a house, and I got my wife to let me have a room with no windows for all of my nerdy stuff.

I did when I was younger. Cashflow was a problem back then, so yeah I had to. But I ended up buying a lot(almost everything) back. So I won't do it again (if it isn't absolutely necessary).

I sold all my N64 games when I was about 12 and I've regretted it ever since. I've been trying to find all the games again but so far I've only managed to get Banjo-Kazooie and Ocarina of Time again. I almost sold the N64 itself but I just couldn't. I had the one with a massive Pikachu on it and I could never sell Pikachu.

I have never sold any of my systems, and never will. I was stupid enough to sell a few games here and there, but I was younger and needed the money. lol. They weren't anything that went anywhere in value, thankfully, so I don't regret selling the few games that I did.

we have two PS1's, two original xboxs, andtwo PS3s.

I really should sell the PS1s, and one xbox. Sell most of my xbox games, and leave helen's alone (on pain of death if i touch them).

Not so much a money thing; but getting more space for new PS3 games and dvds would be nice.

The only game i ever sold in my life (THE ONLY ONE) was Final Fantasy 10-2.... what a dreadful game, it was hedious, horrible, garbage, etc... a friend bought it for full price... so at least i recovered my inversion.

please, If I had to start selling stuff to make more room for games...I'd start selling my clothes and heaven forbid, my stapler collection. I have so many old games and old systems that it's kind of pathetic, but I like it, and I'm just going to get more. I got an xbox 360 recently, and I don't seem to think that I'm strapped for room to the extent that I have to sell any of my over 250 games to make room for some 360 games. I just don't get it. How can you not have enough room for a few more DVD sized boxes??? I just cant seem to wrap my head around this one...

Unfortunately I have... but for good reason. It was done to save up for an engagement ring. I sold many of my NES, SNES, N64, PS1, PS2, DC, DS... almost everything, but I did not sell any of the systems. It was a collection that I had been building for about 8-9 years. I don't regret any of it because I was thinking to myself that I will get them back slowly, but surely. I had to sell the games that I knew would get my some dollars such as Lufia II, Valkyrie Profile, Suikoden II, Power Stone 2, MvC 2, etc. This was all done within the past few months. But now that I have reached my goal, I can start trying to rebuild my collection. Even though it was tough to sell most of these, the idea of searching for these games gets me excited.

i sold a few sega genesis and nes games when i was younger, but now I just keep adding more and more games to my collection. I even joke with my brothers about putting them in my will and making sure they get my games (like 160 games total, so not a HUGE collection, but bigger than anyone else i know). I dont have a ton of RARE games that are worth much, but a few of them are hard to find games that you dont see very often. I dont think i'll ever sell my collection, because I know I'd just regret it. I've invested too much time and $ to just sell them i guess.

Haha I just put photos up on my profile page yesterday and it says "how i fit 700 games in a 12x9 foot area. It's really not hard. You can get awesome shelves at any Wal Mart for around $20 that hold a couple hundered dvds!

I sold NES to get Genesis. I am not an big NES fan besides Mega Man, SMB, and Contra so I don't regret it that much. I sold Genesis to get Saturn, and I regret that every day, not to say that I don't absolutely love Saturn. I just got Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection on PS3 and that has eased the pain. I also have the Mortal Kombat Trilogy and Super Street Fighter 2 HD. I still really miss Shadowrun, NBA Jam, Mutant League Football, and Road Rash. Oh well, missing under 10 games isn't that big of a deal.

I've lost a number of games and consoles outside of my own control. Some kids broke into my mom's apartment years ago and stole my front loader NES and my Sega Genesis, along with most of the games. My dad and step mom, one year, suddenly decided that I no longer needed my Sega Game Gear and gave it to some other kid for his birthday, because his family was too poor to afford any nice gifts (nice for him i guess, but my parents coulda just bought something for him instead of giving my stuff to him). And while I was living out of town for a couple years, my step mom sold my N64 and all my games and controllers for meth. When I was living in Utah for a while, I had my PS2, xbox, and all the games and controllers stolen. Only things I've gotten replaced my PS2 and NES, but the NES is a top loader (which, of course, don't like the game genie).

That all being said, I'd never actually get rid of my legacy systems/games, even if I never planned on ever playing them again. I'm a collector when it comes to video games.

I joined ebay in 2004. I just started buying older games and consoles. At the end of 2005 I decided to sell most of it. Mainly for extra money for Xbox 360 games. I really regret it now. I sold my Saturn. I sold it with Metal Slug, Soukyugurentai and other EU and Japanese games, racing wheel, arcade stick and Action Replay cartridge. I sold my translucent blue N64 with Ocarina of Time, Mario 64, Mortal Kombat 4, Majoras Mask, Goldeneye, Diddy Kong Racing and a few others. All games and the console were boxed, with instructions and in mint condition. I sold some of the Megadrive games I had including Super Street Fighter 2 and Thunder Force IV. Again, mint condition. I sold one of my limited edition Crystal Xbox's. I sold it with a bunch of games including KOTOR and Shenmue 2. I've since re-bought KOTOR and a few of the other Xbox games I sold. I sold my black Slim PS2. I sold it with the official vertical stand and a load of games. I've since bought a Silver Slim PS2 and built up a decent PS2 collection. Better than the one I had before. I've got a much better job now than I had in 2005 so I don't really need to sell anything any more. I really, really regret selling the Saturn and N64 and their games. Mainly because I got really bad prices for them and actually lost quite a lot of money. I'm rebuilding a Saturn collection now. Maybe one day I'll get another N64. The N64 is less tempting because of the Wii's Virtual Console.

I'd be ashamed of myself for commiting such an awful deed to the video game world.
