Sex and nudity in games...

Why do people get so up in arms about it? There are a ton of movies and TV shows that have it, and people are fine with this. so why do people get so infuriated when a game contains sex and/ or nudity? I don't understand it. I'm not saying I want them in games, but this issue makes no sense to me.

But based on that logic, that's true of any medium.

Sex and nudity (It's been proven people take their clothes off) have a place in some games - just as long as it's not in there for the sake of it.

Maybe to people with limited experience in the field, videogames have a stigma for being for kids. Therefore, they'd be different than movies. But I don't know if that's right.

Which really is a wrong way of thinking, AND at least where I live, they check peoples age befor selling an M game and such. They never used to check when I was younger.

I agree with Mr gamer. I'm not saying I want it or that'd I play it just if the game has nudity, but, like in movies and books, it could have its place, as long as it's not there for it being there. I don't understand why people get so outraged at it. And, yes it is weird when it happens, but, again, there is a place for it.

There should be some Sex Education games for teenagers.

I don't know, I guess this is an American thing. Japan and Europe are pretty open minded about sexuality. Actually one of the bigest movies from Switzerland in the past years had rape as a major part of the story (Sennentunschi)

Most of it is due to the mentality that video games are just for kids. Sadly, that is very wrong due to the fact that the average age of gamers is 34.

That's unecessary. Seriously, when i play a game i don't say "hmmm that game would've been so much better if there would be some nudity in it". It's probably to please some fanboys want games to look closer to movies or books because they don't know anything else. This is what i hate about games today. GAMES ARE GAMES NOT MOVIES but i feel that video game companies are trying to destroy video game. Soon we will call video games "Experiences" or "Interractive movies". I love video games and i LOVE movies but don't try to mix them you'll ruin them both.

because people dont care to realize that they are buying adult(m rated or 17/18+ games) video games for their children and they think all games are for kids when in actuality not all games are for kids...most parents wont take their kids to an r or nc-17 rated movie mostly cause of the content...most of them also wouldnt buy these movies for their children...so why do they buy games for them...cause they either have no understanding...or are just too lazy...thats why there is an uproar...

It's usually especially weird, like watching a porn shoot with Barbie dolls. Also, most of the time, they throw it in just so they can say "we have a sex scene," Dragon Age 2 being the prime offender. Sure, some movies do that too. I don't watch those movies either.guynamedbilly

When I was 14-15 I was having hot gay sex in the original Fable and installing nude mods in Morrowind. My parents never gave a damn, and I turned out fine.

Its mainly because it is believed that most gamers or people who are entertained by games, are kids. Sure, that isnt true. But, parents have this way of complaining that really scare game companies.

I got no problem with nudity or sex in video games. Video games are not just for kids you know.

Nothing wrong with nudity in games, at all. If you have a problem with it, don't play them. Don't go trying to ban them cause of your ignorance though.

Being American, I find this mildly offensive. :P I'd be the opposite of what America was doing, honestly.

But it is true. Knowing a lot of the COD drones at my school, they'd be exactly like that. '-__-

While I do understand that some parents don't want to expose their kids to sex and nudity and such, restricting it from the medium as a whole is asinine. (I love that word lol)

Even some PG-13 movies have sex scenes in them (lolololIRONMANlololololol) and not very many people get up in arms against them.

Yet when you get a heavily censored sex scene in Mass Effect (which is tamer than the one in Iron Man, ironically), it's instantly a game about sexing teh gurlz. Remember the whole SexBox "scandal"?

I'm lucky enough to have parents that don't think this way, but I know there are many people out there (cough cough fox news cough) who do.

So please, vidya indusry: don't be afraid to go overboard. Have as much nakey time as you want, and when (not if, when) you get attacked for it, point at movies and graphic novels and books and whatnot and call hypocrisy. And when (not if, when) they respond "but you're playing ituuuhhhh", show them that it's a cutscene.

Anyway, that's my two (more like twenty) cents. Do with this what you will.

I don't know if you'll believe me, but I come from a society and culture that has no issues with violence or gore but has serious issues regarding nudity and sex :P

Anyways, I find them to be an annoyance because the TV is in the living room and people are usually around. I really don't want anyone to go, " ZOMG. TEH PR0n!" when I play :P

To be honest, at least the game parts are somewhat fun. Whereas the movie parts were generally just cringe-inducingly awful.
