Who was the genius with absolutely no morals that thought this was a good idea? They're going to ruin a beautiful piece of art just to make a quick buck! I can't believe this is actually happening. There is no god.

Yeah that is pretty ridiculous. And it seems like it's near impossible to do. What are we going to see, a guy killing a bunch of Collosi? The story is second to the gameplay, and even though it's a great story it's great because it's really up for interpretation. I wouldn't be surprised is they handed this to W.S. Anderson or Uwe Boll. If that were the case then yeah, there for sure is no god. And what a great writer to pen the story...yeah frakkin' right. Which brings me to my next point. How is anyone writing it when the language isn't real anyways!?

This is gonna end up like Watchmen and Dragonball. You can't make these things into movies!

I saw Dragonball (pirated at friends house) and it sucked. Don't agree with Watchmen comment (yes I did read the novel). If they do this right I think it could be a good movie. But I have yet to see a movie based off of a game be good.

I think they could've made a good animated Dragonball film but what they actually made well.... it's an exemplar spectacle as to why anime should never, ever be left to the hands of the american film industry - they take everything likeable and unique about anime and turn it into homogenised, americanised blandness.

I can already tell that this isn't going to be good, the ambiguity of Shadow of the Colossus is what makes it a groundbreaking work of art as a game but these same qualities will make it awful film-making material.

Don't worry, the directer won't be either of those two. It's by the guy who did The Scorpion King. Want more good news? They got the writer from Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun Li. Yay!

"Hey colossus prepare to die so that I may save Alice!"

"BLARG! YOU WILL NEVER DEFEAT ME!"

Pfft. Game-based films are generally just as awful as their film-based game counterparts. There a few exceptions though.

Be happy that it's not being made by Uwe Boll

That sucks, I guess they could make (improbable) a decent movie featuring a guy, some giants, and his dead/dormant girlfriend. but I wonder how they are going to convey the feeling we got off of the vastness of the terrain, Thesize of the Colosi, and the bond with his horse.. Also I hope they dont cast some "super mega star" becuasethat just ruins it ..It should be someone not too well known at the time. That way I wont feel like Iwent to see leonardo di caprio fighting some giants and the character will be more believable.

Hollywood sucks, Just look at what they did to agent 47....

Maybe... just maybe... a master filmmaker and screenwriter who had infinite respect for the source material could make this work. But the guy who wrote Street Fighter and the director of The Scorpion King? 0 chance that anything good can come from this.

On a positive note, at least it's not ICO.
