I'm trying to decide between these 2 headsets:

Sharkoon X-Tatic SP Gaming Headset

Ear Force PX21 Gaming Headset

Anyone have either of these headsets and can attest to their durability and/or quality? I have both a ps3 and 360 so I want a universal headset. If you have a universal headset that you find to be good or better than these then please share. I don't want to spend over $80 for a headset though.

i tried the ear force px21 and when its combined with ear force dds decoder it does offer good surround sound but lacks in sound quality

most of the turtle beach and other gaming headsets have cheap parts that result in poor sound quality

i did research and found out the best value is to skip getting any headset and go for good headphones then buy a clip on mic or if using with ps3 you can set your blue tooth device to speakerphone

i ended up getting audio technica AD700 which i read are great for gaming and have entry level sound for audiophiles and combined it with astro mixamp to get dolby digital headphone which is better than going with the px21 package

You should have posted this in the audio/video hardware forum. But, there has been a lot of these topics there the past few weeks and I'm pretty sure you'd get the same reply as what was posted above.

Go with the Sennheiser HD555 or Audio Technica AD700s, and the Zalman Clip-On Mic (both easily found on amazon). For the PS3 you'll need a bluetooth adapter, and for the Xbox 360 you'll need a 3.5 female to 2.5mm male adapter, both are very cheap ($1-2 at most). In addition to that, you should get an amp to enhance the sound (look for the "Bravo V2" amp on eBay).

Personally, I use the HD555 ($51 refurbished at Amazon), Zalman Clip-On Mic ($13), Adapter cable for 360 ($2) and the Bravo V2 amp($50 for me with international shipping, this was from an auction). The entire set-up costs around $100, and its much better quality than any gaming headset can provide.

Edit: It looks like the seller (DAHMART) who I bought the refurbished HD555s from on Amazon doesn't have any currently listed. You might want to contact them to see if they will be getting more if you're interested in the headphones.
