Poll Should Activision stop calling their games Call of Duty? (10 votes)

Yes, Majority of the CoD games have no relations with each other. 50%
No, can never get enough Cods 30%
Maybe 0%
I don't know 20%

I just saw Call of Duty Infinite War. WTF Activision. Every new FPS games they make now, they just keep slapping CoD in the name. It already has no relation what so ever since Modern Warfare and WW2 series.

Advanced Warfare forgettable. Black Ops series aren't even properly linked. Now another one?

This is just Final Fantasy FPS style where none of the title relate to the original. The last WW2 one was "World at War."

It would be find if they just called it Infinite War or Advanced Warfare. Slapping CoD in the name makes it forgettable.

I could be wrong but i heard before that world at war was meant to be titled cod4 and modern warfare wasnt going to be called cod at all.

I think they made a mistake not doing that. But who is to say the last gen games would have been as popular if some people didnt realise they had qnythingvto do with each other.

It's just a franchise name.

Like Command and Conquer did the same thing. The Tiberium universe has very little relation to the Red Alert universe, and both of those have no relation to the Generals universe. But they're all in the same vein of gameplay and employ similar mechanics, so they call them Command and Conquer, most likely for name recognition I'd wager.

But yeah I must agree with you; when I see a new CoD title, I think "Ugh, another one? Pass..." but if they said they were coming out with a new IP I'd actually be interested (until I found out it was pretty much just CoD with a diff name)

I see no reason why they should drop the name Call of Duty.

Should EA do the same with Battlefield? Since I'm sure all the Battlefields are not related. Although, in all fairness, they did that recently with Medal of Honor.

Battlefield game series makes more sense it was totally meant for multiplayer. At least they didn't call Star Wars Battlefield. But, CoD? Always something different in campaign and they continue to call it CoD. It isn't like the C&C series where it follows a specific story line. For the guy above.

There is a reason why there is a Tiberium Series and Red Alert Series. The whole C&C General game was to add China as a faction which was scrapped (Generals 2).

@Makemap: What's in a name? That which we call a Call of Duty, by any other name would still play as sweet. So Infinity War would, were it not Infinity War called, retain that dear perfection which it owes.

I still haven't played a single cod or modern warfare game. Too mainstream for my liking. And also they seem more expensive than they should be.

That'd be a dumb move on their part. As long as they slap "Call of Duty" in the title, it will sell millions of copies. No need to get a large chunk of their audience confused.

So you're saying all the C&C games follow a specific story line, that is the SAME story line and they are all related?

COD games are connected by gameplay, the sub header is what indicates if they're connected by story (Black Ops 2, Modern Warfare 2, etc.). Like the other guys have said it's the same thing Command and Conquer, and Battlefield do.

At this point its like the Final Fantasy series where they use it by reputation and name rather than in-game contents and story like it used to be.
