You DO know that Metroid is owned by Nintendo, right?
RossRichard
You DO know that Bungie & BioWare can make games for all platforms, right?
If we were talking Bioware of old? I would say maybe. But Bioware just doesn't have it anymore. Nor have they ever made a game that says to me that they could make a good Metroid game.
Bungie has talent. But again, they have made nothing to me that shows they could pull off a good Metroid game. Metroid is not a first person shooter, despite the Prime series being in first person. And all Bungie has done is FPS's.

I guess you're being defensive because you ready enjoy the metroid series (you've given all the fps metroids a 10 out of 10?). You can easily screw up a metroid game, Other M is a living proof of that. Bungie and Bioware hasn't made any games that give any indication on that they would make a good metroid game. With your reasoning you could take any dev that has done a decent game and they could perhaps make a good metroid game.I have no doubt that if they made a Metroid game, both developers would make a good game. That said however, would it be a good Metroid game? Who knows.

Well considering that Bungie has a 10-year publishing deal with Activision Blizzard, and Bioware is owned by EA, I will ask the same question: You DO know that Metroid is owned by Nintendo, right?

Your point is kinda...pointless.
I said should they, not that they will.
Short answer. No.

I don't think either of said companies could do good by Metroid. Though I do believe Ninty would be smart to get some fresh eyes for the future. These days the industry is leaning towards story more than strong gameplay. I hope they think to bring in some long time fans of the series who would love to join the team. Get more people in there that know what made the game successful before, also hire some good sci-fi/fantasy writers. Find a way to mesh good solid mechanics with a great story and nice visuals and they will make a lot of money.

I would also like another 2D game. Maybe even as several levels of a 3D title. Give me that in the WiiU and I might just buy the console.
Neither of those developers really have experience working with adventure/exploration oriented games. As mentioned earlier, the guys who made Shadow Complex stand a better chance of delivering the quintessential Metroid experience. Articuno76
They certainly do, although I hated the respawning enemies in Shadow Complex quite a bit. I would play the s### out of a new 2D Metroid game...
Neither of those developers have shown skill in what makes the Metroid franchise a Metroid franchise. Metroid's always been about an isolated individual in a tightly designed interconnected world to explore. What would a mulitplayer focused FPS developer or whatever BioWare is these days be able to do?
Bungie are fantastic developers but their skillset in Halo varies quite a bit to Metroids. That being said, I could see a little Bungie/Ninty join up.
Bioware, fvck no.
A Metroid built on the Dark Souls formula (make your own character, interact with other people online in subtle ways, visceral gameplay) would be nice.Zeviander
To be fair, building just about any game around the Souls formula would make it pretty much the best.
A Bioware could be interesting if it's an rpg but they could screw it up.
Bungie could do one in the vein of prime but I'm much more a fan of Prime than any halo.
Oh and come on guys da2 wasn't a bad game it just didn't live up to the first game by a long shot, and mass effect 3 was fantastic besides the ending(can live with it a bit better after extended), and the quest(journal) system was a bit bad.
I would never play a Metroid game without Samus. The duality of her character is perfectly reflected in the series' gameplay and the series would suffer greatly from a change in that respect.famicommanderI'm not sure why her "character" is necessary for it to be a "Metroid" game. Numerous official and unofficial games (i.e. free indie games like GunGirl) built on the Metroivania formula have matched the Metroid's in terms of quality, without the necessity of Samus Aran as protagonist. The series is suffering greatly now because Nintendo is refusing to give the series what it needs: another non-linear 2D console game. They are trying to inject it with action game and shooter elements plus a story, while it was only ever at it's best on a flat 2D plane letting the environment tell the story. Being able to make your own character, with their own unique set of skills and powers would only add to the replay value. There is a fine line between keeping the old and evolving the series with the new. It's unfortunate you wouldn't play a new Metroid if it didn't feature Samus. That seems like a really petty reason.

Actually, yes, it was a bad game. Even if the first one didn't exist or it was released under a different title, it is a bad game in it's own right. It wasn't just the ending that was bad in ME3 (I never even got that far). It's more of the change in gameplay and the "streamlining" of the game that ruined it. If I wanted to be dropped in a small map and fight waves of enemies, I'd play a FPS. I also felt that they tried to make the combat too much like Gears of War.
Actually BioWare could take the story & races from the games and expand them.
They have experience with that.
I'd be interested to see Bungie or Bioware make MetroidVania game, but it shouldn't be an actual Metroid title. It would be much better for both those company's, and for Metroid/Nintendo, if they created there own IP to do something like this with.
My biggest want for the Metroid series right now, is a one off 1st Person Survival Horror game (Not an FPS before anyone starts panicing, something more like the original Prime). I don't want it to be the norm for the series by any means, but to me it would be a perfect fit for the series, plus after Other M, I think they need to take a risk to get people interested in Metroid again, and it's easy to set up have Samus crash land on an uncharted planet, and (kinda like in Pikmin) she has to find not only her own equipment (which, in traditional Metroid fashion is all now magicly scattered across the planet) but also a way to repair her ship. The horror element would come from the isolation (something that's been missing in more recent Metroid games; ie Other M and Corruption), and actually having scary looking aliens/creatures, another thing I want to point out is i'm not asking for blood (though they could go with green alien blood, which dosn't seem to bother anyone) or foul language in the game, or even an M/18 rating you can make a game that does everything I'm thinking with something like a T/15 rating, and I really think it would be a great one off title for the Metroid series.
