no lol its a tragedy if you were born around snes nes life time and never had one of those, that is the start of true gaming
but ya get a ps2,
heck you can get a xbox or gc as well lol, youll have thousands of games to choose from and come dirt cheap , heck when most people pay 60 for a game like rainbow six vegas i waited got it for 8 dollars due to a sale gs was running
it pays to wait same for vegas 2 while rushers payed 60 i payed 30 half the price buyng in on release
theres only a few times where i hit games on release when its nintendo made actually because i grew up with them
not sony or ms sure theres a few id grab day one only because i just got the console,
but other then that, theres no reason to rush ,
ps2 even when dead has games more games then current gen besides wii which is just behind ps2 due to the fact its last gen technology wii has over 1000 games already out
also due to vc
and wii ware
but ya
compared to ps3 360 ps2 has more games, plus you also have access to ps1 game library cant do all this with current model ps3s
only ones made 06-mid 07
if you got a 08 model it only plays ps1 and ps3s
Hey guys thanksf or the response. I plan to get it at the end of January. I have a question. Do you know any big retail stores like Best Buy or something that have any deals for a PS2?

wallmart canada has a deal on ps2 right now for 89.99. you should really look into that if its available.
I owned an Xbox and it finally broke after 5 years of use (I had it since 2001). Anyways, I missed a lot of the games I had for it and decided to get a PS2 slim since they no longer make the Xbox. I just got it a little over a month ago and I love it. The number on it is SCPH-90001 CB and it was very resonble priced and there are many great games. The games are also very cheap used and offor many hours of fun. The system is also very small, light and portable. The only con is that it has no hard drive.
I highly recomend geting a PS2.

Yeah my Xbox just broke too.. soo moving on to the Ps2.. How much it costed you?
doesnt matter if they stop making them, you have a library of thousands of games already. youll never be able to get them all anyway. it has so many great games its worth it. the only downfall of the system is its weak online support. some games arent even playable anymore without the online aspect.kit352
what that guy said.......... :-)
ps2 is really worth it. especially if your short on money. buuuuuuuut, let me give you something to think about before you buy a ps2...
if you buy a ps2. its around a hundred bucks + brand new. then theres a lot of games. and i mean alot. so you gonna spend some money, more or less to play those cool games. plus a memory card of course. so what does this all mean... you will be spending alot of money buying good games... and if you add all those...guess what? you will realize later that you have already spend alot of money. trust me on this. i have spend alot trying to play "catch up" on all those old great games that i missed. so what does this add up...yeah i should have save my money and bought a next gen console. lol. i already spend alot of money buying ps2 games.
alot of great games on the ps2. to name a few: mgs essential collection, devil may cry trilogy, onimusha trilogy, dbz games, naruto games, gta trilogy, persona 3 fes, persona 4, final fantasy x, x-2, 12, shadow hearts trilogy (sold separately), street fighter alpha and anniversary, guilty gear accent core, shadow of colussus, onimusha dawn of dreams, god of war 1, 2, resident evil collection, disgaea 1, 2, some NIS rpg, srpg, (phantom brave, makai kingdom etc), some EA games if you like sports, kingdom hearts series (there are 3 of them), dragon quest 8, rogue galaxy, alot of cool/average rpgs like xenosaga, dark cloud 2, wild arms series, tales of series...
theres alot, some i dont remember anymore. but still alot... and will cause you money. lol. so decide carefully before you go spending your cash. lol.

It depends on if you want it new or used. I got a new one for just a little over 100, saved only a miniumal amount from the sugested retail price. You just have to look around for a deal.
Playstation 2 is always a solid investment...
Also, don't worry about them making games. They stopped making games for the NES sometime around 94 (I think?) but you can still find those everywhere.
yes
you get a dvd player cd player and you can play ps1 games on it and over 3000 ps2 games to choose from
