I got mine from a garage sale for 20 dollars: system, power, 2 controllers, 7 games.

The person selling it wanted 40 but i haggled down to 20 somehow, and she was really pissed and wouldnt even give me a bag to carry it in, and my house was 5 blocks away.

After much struggling and dropping things i finally managed to make it home and play OoT.

Of all the systems I own, I play it the least. The games really haven't aged well, plus I don't like the controller. However, my wife and kids love to play it. I guess it just depends on what kind of games that you like. I'm an RPG player, and it doesn't do well for that.

i got perfect dark for .64 cents and $4 shipping on amazon brand new!! you could find almost all the good games on amazon for under $30 i got most of them goldeneye, mario 64, ocarina ot, magoras mask, diddy kong racing, killer instinct, rouge squadron, and conkers bad fur day. i still need jet force gemini, dk 64, banjo kazzoie, banjo tooie, paper mario 64, and star fox 64 those are the only games i ever liked on nintendo 64 worth getting just for those games i think.

You should definitely get an n64 they have a lot of great games. I would try to look around at garage sales and if you have a Slackers store near you, try looking there. I wouldn't pay more than about $30-40 for the system with a controller.

The n64 was the beginning of the end for nintendo software wise. I paid 300$ for mine when they first came out and man what a freaking let down. Its only good for: Mario 64, Zelda OoT/majora's Mask, WWF No Mercy, Perfect Dark, Goldeneye, Quest 64(might be Magic Quest 64?), and.....thats about it.....less than 10 games. Whoop t dooo.

WWF No Mercy is the best wrestling game that has ever come out for any console so thats a bonus. Perfect Dark has wicked split screen multiplayer. The different types of matches and stuff you can make and the different bots you can use is awesome and the best I have seen for an offline game.

I'd rather get a NES or SNES. And if you dont have a ps2 and you like to play games you need to be shot. Theres easily over 100 really great games between the ps1 and ps2.

1080 snowboarding at the time was a good game on the console. But I wouldn't buy it over something like SSX now adays... Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire wasn't too bad though

Try to find this game: Space Station Silicon Valley. It's a fun and very original 3d puzzle platformer. It features gameplay that no AAA developer would dare to produce nowadays. In fact if flopped back in the days, too - undeservedly. Why get this game? You can play Mario and shooters on today's consoles. But since you want to buy a vintage console like the N64 i guess you are looking for games that offer something that you won't find on the new ones.

Turok: Dinosaur Hunter
Turok 2: Seeds of Evil
Ogre Battle 64: Person of Lordly Calibur
Mario Party 1, 2 & 3 (they were still good back then)]
Mario Tennis (multiplayer dependant)
Super Smash Bros (The original, and still arguably the most fun)
Paper Mario
F-Zero X

Also, I didn't really enjoy DK64, I'm in the minority there, but it's not for everyone.

Same here. The game was so damned confusing. Find a switch which opens a passage in a different level. I was lost soon and gave up.

Great system despite the cartridge format limitations. Has some classics which aren't on any other system. Highly recommended, but find it as cheaply as you possibly can.
