Hey guys,

I've got an old SNES with a bunch of games. I never thought about selling it but apparently the games and the system are worth quite a bit of money. I've got a bunch of Mario and Donkey Kong games and according to Ebay they can go anywhere from $20-$25. Should I just save them and hope they gain more value or should I sell them?

I need the money for PS3 slim. :/

If you don't play it anymore and need the money for another system that you will play than yea you probably should. But not unless you have to. The reason i say that is cause growing up i used to sell my systems to get money for the new generation of systems (ie, sega genesis for money towards PS1). But if you hold onto a system for longer than one generation it almost becomes like a collectable and part of your childhood (at least it did for me). I never sold my original NES all those years. Then about 3-4 years ago i finally sold it. I hadn't played it in a while, but once i sold it, it was like i sold a piece of my soul. LOL! I know that's sounds a little exagerrated but you get the point.

What i'm saying is if you need to, go for it. But don't be shocked if you miss it after its gone and want to buy another one. I'm sure there are other people on these boards that know exactly what i'm talking about

In more words or less:

NO!!!

That system and those games are like Nintendo's crown jewels. It's an amazing system and those are amazing games. I'm sure one day you'll get that nostalgia feeling and you'll have to buy it all back for double what you sold em for. And for what? A mere fraction of the cost of a PS3?

Depends how much sentimental value it has and if you are emotionally attached to the stuff. If you can live without it and are positive you will never play it again then sell it to someone else who will. If not just keep it because I'm sure the value will only increase.

If you really want to. If your collection has RPG's in it, then I would at least hold on to those. Mario and Donkey Kong were popular, so they probably wouldn't be too hard to track down again for reasonable price. The Wii has the Mario and Donkey Kong games on the Virtual Console, so if you find that you want to play the again, you can buy them each for $8.

1. Will you play them again? 2. Do you need the money? 3. Will you miss not having them (regardless of playing them again or not)?

When I was younger I sold my older systems to buy newer systems. I regretted it almost immediately and over time ended up re-buying all the stuff I had sold, which obviously costs much more money than I got for originally selling things. Long story short: Don't sell if you think you'll regret it

Be patient...they are talking about system price cuts for this year...the Wii has a lot of potential to drop to 99$ retail lol.

Sell them. As long as you're not a collector and absoulty need a physical copy of all your SNES games, you can find other ways of playing them. I sold:

Mega Man 7 (60), Megaman X (20), Super Bomberman 2 (30), Kirby Superstar (20), Kirby Dream Course (20), Mario RPG (50) on Kijiji and made $200.

It is your choice. Many SNES games have been put out over several newer systems. Some of the RPG's have not come again like the Soul Blazer series, Secret of Evermore, and a few others. Most of the main platformers can be bought on GBA, DS, or the virtual console. Most of the main Square RPG's have been rereleased on GBA, DS, PSP, PS3 or virtual console.

The newer versions of some of the older RPG's have better translatons. I never said he should definitely do it. I just said if he did, it would not be a huge loss unless he a collector. If he thinking about selling it, then he probably isn't.

I never lived in the golden ages of gaming (Being born in 1998.) and I am really wishing I had. Those consoles go for a CRAP LOAD of money so you would make a lot of money off of selling it, but if I were you, I wouldn't sell it. It makes me happy just to hold a piece of gaming history in my hands so I would keep it.

It's actually the opposite, you're gonna lose money selling them. When they were new, NES and SNES sold for $130-$200 brand-new. Now they sell for like $30-$60 online.

Hes 13...60dollars can be quite a bit lol. anyways jetsethradio...if you want a piece of gaming history you should look up and get E.T. for the atari 2600 and one of the Zelda CDi games. Infamous yes, but still major parts of game history. Everybody knows about the Marios, Pikachus, Metroids, Snakes, and the rest of the Icons. Infamous gaming history, although well known, is still a little more obscure.
