your probably gonna say no right away, but listen anyway.

his family doesnt have much money and he cant find a job so getting a new system would be hard for him. he might try to push for a 360 for christmas.

the reason i suggested gamecube is because we both love resident evil. hes been playin RE5 for my 360 and beat it reletively fast.

do you guys think its worth it for him to buy a gamecube for $30 or however much it is to buy all the resident evil remakes and the non remakes that have come out on gamecube?

he has the PS1 versions but threyre startin to not work and the PS2 he plays them on is his cousins and its difficult to share it.

so what do you think?

I say get a ps2 or xbox instead, better games overall, and will probably keep him occupy longer. I have both a gamecube/ps2 and the ps2 is much better, funner games overall on the ps2. The gamecube has some classic games, like pikmin, mario sunshine, mario party, super smash. I say if your friend has a friend to play the gamecube with, I think you will have large amount of fun with it. Personally I never play the gamecube without someone playing with me.

he has the original xbox but never plays it. his cousin who lives at his house has a ps2 but his Resident evil games for ps1 are starting to not work and thats all he really wants. what im asking is it worth it for just resident evil games and probably some of the other great games that the gamecube made

also i have a gamecube and all i play on it is resident evil 4 and super smash brothers occasionally. but year all he really wants is to be able to play the resident evil series

I would say it's well worth it if your on budget. Though I am quite bias towards the GC. I have never played the Gamecube, Dreamcast and PS2 ported Resident Evils but the other 3 should be well worth it.

The GC is a great system, but right now, I'd just get a Wii and by GC games for it.

There are at least a dozen or more games that just by themself make it worth having a gamecube. If you can find one relatively cheap getting it is a no brainer.

This is a no brainer. Of course your friend should get the gamecube there are incredible games for that little box such the legend of zelda twilight princess, zelda collectors edition, resident evil 4, beutiful joe, super mario sunshine, etc. I advice you get all three consoles (gamecube, ps2, xbox). You can get them all second hand for less than $100 on amazon.com or other shops if you are willing to shop around.

Definitely get it. If you can, get the version with digital output - you can use components cables with it for progressive scan.

Get a Gamecube. I think it is way better than PS2, and I own both. They are both great, but Gamecube is one of my favorite game systems.

I wouldn't get an XBOX, mostly because I don't trust Microsoft with anything but operating systems.

Yes, of course. Gamecube is an amazing system with tons of excellent games, and is very cheap.

Not sure if he has old GBA games too, but one of my favorite things about the Gamecube is the GBA Game Player attatchment. Being able to play Golden Sun on the big screen kicks some major arse!!! And they're only like $15 or so used (be sure to get the disc with the attatchment!!!).

Even being a fan of the Gamecube, I'd say no - he should buy a PS2 if he's on a budget.

The PS2 has a much larger game library and you're more likely to find good cheap games at EB/Gamestop and ebay - moreso than Gamecube games.

You can find some good PS2 games for $3.00 or $5.00 at EB/Gamestop and I'm sure more of the same at the local pawn shop.

I would say go for it, but there is a balance. The PS2 has a lot of games that are much cheaper these days to get and has a lot more variety. But the cube itself is VERY cheap to buy, but the games are a bit more expensive..and the library isnt as large. But the cube exclusives are well worth it (All of the REs, Zeldas Marios ETC.) But honestly I think it is also a good system overall.

If your friend has a store nearby that still sells used Cube games, then yes. A lot of the really good games like Fire Emblem and Twilight Princess are pretty expensive, but I think the RE games are reasonably priced.

If not, he should definitely go with a PS2. It is still easy to find lots of great games at really low prices.

Resident Evil huh? Sounds like your friend is a horror gamer. My suggestion: Save a lil' longer and get a PS2. From there; buy the Resident Evil games (I am pretty sure there is a pack at Gamestop which includes ALL the PS2 RE games you could buy; 4, Code Veronica, and Outbreak) and from there, the PS2 has even better survival horror games. These include Silent Hill and Fatal Frame. You can't go wrong with a PS2.
