I would make a poll, but for some reason I dont see that option

Anyway, I dont greatly care about them, but I do enjoy them. Also, by Simulations, I mean stuff like flight sims, driving sims, road cleaning sims :P, etc, maybe even tycoons (though I personally dont really consider those simulations).

The reason I ask this is because I have x-plane 9 on my computer (it can barely handle it, lol) and I've played MFSX before. I really enjoy sims. I've also played Tycoons such as RCT (1 and 3) and zoo tycoon. Im also excited about x-plane 10 (which according to x-planes.com, should be launching around this christmas).

So anyway, do you guys care about them?

The sims you have listed I couldn't care less about. I don't think making a game exactly like real life is fun at all. Red Orcehstra 2 has several realistic features, but knows when to leave some realism out. It chooses things that would be fun in game, and leaves out other stuff that really isn't fun

Of course. I've installed and uninstalled other games but, not FSX. FSX always remain on the PC. I did aviation weather for almost 20 years. I love customizing the clouds and weather in FSX.

Well I am a really big fan of racing simulations. I still like stuff like Burnout and NFS, but being a big car fanatic, I also want the opportunity to get the most realistic experience I can. Unfortunately, it's going to be the closest I get to driving a lot of these dream cars and with my racing wheel set-up I want to get as close as it can possibly be. It's because of that I can really see the value in them. Sure, a lot of people like to play video games because they are no realistic for that purpose. That being said, there will always be genres that not everyone enjoys. Personally, I find the realism to be challenging and entertaining.

I must say I enjoy the tycoons, flight simulators, and even Animal Crossing (I know, it's a stretch for a simulator game).

But even if you don't like simulation gameplay (which, depending on the sim, I do), you should at least respect a simulator for it's capacity to safely teach. I care about simulators because they help the pilots who fly the plane's I'm on learn how to fly the plane correctly.

I like sims even though I never really have the time to learn them properly (flight sims at least). I love FSX, IL2, Arma and pretty much all racing sims.

Well, for one, if something goes wrong (such as crashing a plane or car) no one dies.

And it also gives people the chance to try their skills at something before trying the real thing. And then for other people, it allows them to experience something that they would not otherwise be able to experience.

As for me, Sims such as x-plane 9 (soon to be 10, hopefully) allows me to experience something that I otherwise can not afford.

Il2 Sturmovik was amazing before it went to consoles.

Oh yea, definitely. I love flight sims and I've gotten into a few driving ones, Arma 2, Silent Hunter III, and Railworks 2. I like the Rollercoaster and Railroad tycoon games. I also like economic management games like Patrician.

Simulation games are pretty fun. On a related note - I like to play open world sand box games that are similar to simulations.

Games that allow me to go places and purchase items for my character:oops: like in GTA IV and Bully. Wait those would be more like rpg games. w/e

I'm not into management sims. I AM into flight simulations, to some extent; I enjoy Rise of Flight and IL-2 Sturmovik: 1946, but keep the complex engine management stuff off for the time being because I have a hard enough time fighting effectively with a fully realistic flight model. I would play more Falcon 4.0 and DCS: Black Shark if not for the sheer increase in avionics complication that modern aircraft bring with them. (To put this into perspective, if you really wanted to, you can go through the full ramp start process for an F-16C or Ka-50. It's anything BUT a turnkey process and will take several minutes.) I don't know if I'm as into racing simulations yet. Grand Prix Legends and Richard Burns Rally are just unforgivingly brutal. You need to finesse the pedals just as much (if not moreso than) the wheel, that's for sure. Part of it is being able to step up to the challenge without the dangers involved with really doing it. Never mind getting shot down; just taking a turn completely wrong in RBR will result in what would undoubtedly be a fatal car wreck in real life. (You could say I have a newfound respect for rally drivers now.)

I love combat sims. Sumbarines, tanks, planes, helis etc. One of my absolute favorite genres. I also enjoy space sims and some civilian simulations from time to time. So yeah, I do care about them and I'm really happy that nowadays this genre is enjoying such a ressurgence. in 2004 it seemed like it was almost extince, but somehow it recovered.

I love sims, even though I suck ass at them. Silent Hunter, DCS Blackshark, IL2 1946 (shame about CoD) Combat Mission. I usually can't play them on full realism settings ( I'd probably honestly have to have someone teach me), but they're fun nonetheless.

I like simulation games. I enjoy realism in games. I have Microsoft Flight Simulator X and even though I can only fly one plane just well enough I love it. :)

I love a good driving/racing sim. Kind of burned out on them right now though. Maybe I'll get back into them next year sometime.

I like flight and combat sims, Simcity, racing sim... I can't think of any more... I'm sure if I play other tycoon type or management games, I'd probably like it.

I like my simulations evry once in a while, speaking of which I wish some games would do violence a bit more realistic (not over the top like gears of war)

Heh! Some of these simulations are getting ridiculous! I saw a "Mining and Tunneling Simulator"! as well as a Gardening Simulator and not forgetting the classic Street Cleaning Simulator!:o

Not really sims. Forza tries to give the impression it's a sim, but when compared to racers such as iRacing, it's an arcade.

Turn off all the assists and it's far from arcade. You make it sound like Burnout.

Don't mean to make it sound like Burnout, but even with all the assists off, compared relatively to iRacing, it is an arcade.
