Just wondering if there is anyone here that skips all the cutscenes in games. My brother does it (even in MGS games!) and I really don;t understand why! The cutscenes tell the story of the game and expand on the plot! I believe they need to be seen to be come fully immersed in the game. The story of a game is most of the time a BIG part of it. Anyway, if you do skip the scenes, why?

I find it odd that someone would skip cutscenes in a game they're playing for the first time, but for subsequent playthroughs, that's fine. I think all games should allow you to skip cutscenes, though.

i watch a cut scene once, and if i have to keep playing the same part over and over, i skip it all subsequent times. i don't know why you would skip the entire story

LOL, i can't believe someone would skip cutscenes the first time they play the game. Still, if they are as bad as God of War's, i understand, too bad that the game doesn't even let you skip those craptastic cutscenes

Skipping cut scenes by accident is terrible. When you get back into the action you don't have a clue what is going on.

I never skip cutscenes, unless it is a part that is kind of inappropriate and my family walks in.

Every game should have it MANDATORY that you can pause cutscenes.  I absolutely hate it when I really have to do something and this cutscene (MGS for example) is going on for a long time with important story stuff.

I totally agree with that. Not being able to pause cut scenes is an abosolute pig.

It really helps to pause in game like Xenosaga, and thankfully the game has the function so its great.

I only skip scenes if I am fighting a certain boss a few times and losing. When I replay games in general I still dont skip scenes as it is nice to enjoy the game fully.

Depends on how well they are done.  I don't skip them in most RPG's unless they go on for too long.  I have skipped them in MGS, I usually always skip them in action games / FPS.

The bottom line is for the most part they are not worth watching unless they contain information about what your next goal is.

Valkyrie Profile 2 lets you skip, but not pause cutscenes.:? I just finished beating a tough boss, was watching a cutscene, and the doorbell rang. I went to pause the game but the scene kept going with a text box that asked me if I wanted to skip it. I got up, looked out the window, looked at the TV, out the window, at my controller, I didn't know what to do! It was my girlfriend at the door, so I decided that I should probably let her in. I missed some story at one of the best parts in the game! If it wasn't such a difficult battle, I would have went back and played that part over again.

Hahahaha, I would of left her at the door :P I hate it when that happens, or the phone rings or something and you cant pause.

I watch them the first time through for sure.
It really sucks when you can skip them and your watching it for the umpteenth time.
I agree it would be nice to replay or pause them but most games don't let you because
of the way cut scenes are rendered.
They are usually a CGI video that is not encoded with pause stop and so on.

With some of the problems that are present in many games I don't think would be very smart
for me to go *****ing about cut scenes too developers and take their focus off more important things.
I would rather you make sure my guys arm doesn't get stuck in a wall before you add a pause button to
movie of him chatting about the zombie that is about to waste him because his arm is stuck in the wall.
LOL

I don't skip cut scenes, but I understand why a few gamers do even if it's there first time playing.  For these gamers it's not about the story, character development, or anything like that.  They are basically just playing for a challenge and it could really be anything happening on the sceen and they would play it.  Most of the time these types are goal oriented, and "ends justify the means" type people.  Sometimes you'll see it in older people since games were never a storytelling medium for them.

As I've said same here. Pausing cutscenes would be a great idea, I hate when the phone goes or the doorbell rings and you have to sprint to get it so you don't miss it!!! And don;t get me started on when the phone goes when you're playing online!!! It's also really annoying when you accidentally skip a cutscene especially when you've never seen it. At times I want to see it so much I load my last save before it, sometimes which makes me have to repeat another hour of the game!! But that's only at times.

Yeah I can't imagine why anyone would skip through cut-scenes the first time through. Actually I usually always watch them regardless of how many times I've seen them. Occassionally I'll skip them though. I agree that it would definately be nice to pause them.

I never skip cut-scenes during my first playthrough, even if they're totally boring. Not having the option to skip cut-scenes, though, is criminal IMO.

That's why I like the HOME button on the Wiimote (not sure whether the buttons on the Sixaxis and the 360 controller have the same function). With it, you can pause the game at any time, whether during a cutscene, during loading, or simply during gameplay.

Never, ever skip cut-scenes on your first play-through might you miss important information crucial to the game.
