If this is true...wow.... I need to pack in some other games pre-Skyrim so I can focus exclusively on it once it comes out.

Take everything bethesda says with a grain of salt and wait for the game to be released to find out what really happens. If you want to know why I'm telling you this look up bethesda's e3 demo for oblivion.
Thats alot of game right there. Let's hope it's good, and, if it is, I might actually check it out. Of course as long as it's not glitchy as hell.
Did they really have to have it come out at about the same time WWE '12 comes out? Huh? Did they? I can't afford to get both, especially when I barely even have time for one. :cry:The-Apostle
Although I'm not getting WWE 12 (until a price drop anyway) I know how you feel, its more or less within a week of the MW3 and Saints Row 3 release dates -.-'
The amount of time those three games will drain from me is unthinkable. Curse you Bethesda!
That's not hard to believe.
I've had over 100 hours on every Final Fantasy since VII.
I'm used to stuff like this. :P
300 hours is a lot of wasted time if the game is crap. Didn't they spout huge gaming hours when Fallout 3 was being released and it took a lot less to do everything in that game. But I am looking forward to Skyrim. I want a good lengthy game thats not MP for a change
300 hours, thats how much time i put into fallout 3 across 3 play-throughs, skyrim's sounding better all the time :)
The more the better. Not like THQ's Homefront - 5 hour single player campaign. No wonder they have closed down. They deserve it. I know, completely different games, but hope you get my point. Excellent job Bethesda. ON average, for a $ 60 dollar game with more than 300 hours is well spent, compared to $ 60 for a 5 hour game. Publishers and developers should in fact provide a good quality content and a reasonable longevity. Mediocrity should be not endorsed....
But didnt they claim the same with oblivion, because I am maxed out with every dlc, shivering isles, 5 houses turned into museums with stuff, and every inch of the map walked at only 97 hours, so dont give your hopes up.

Thats what I also think. Of course they will say 300 hours to get attention and sell the game. I would love if it was actually 300 hours because thats beastly. But I don't see how you can have that much without being too repetitive or boring. it also depends on difficulty etc. there are too many factors to just claim 300 hours. But lets hope
How can anyone be excited at the prospect of throwing 300 could-be productive hours down the drain? istuffedsunnyBecause thats great value for your entertainment dollar, buy one game and it lasts a long time. As for productivity you are in the wrong hobby.
How many people have played through Oblivion twice and how long did it take you? I spent well over 150 hours on it on one character and I didn't even finish the main quest.shani_boy101I think I played the main quest once. Spent at least 500 hours in the game (that I counted). I played the Dark Brotherhood quest line at least 10 times. Each time with a new character.
I ended up putting 320 hours into one playthrough in Oblivion (no fast travel, lots of crafting). With limited time to play the game it turned out to be just about the only game I played in 2006. I'm sure that Skyrim can easily deliver 300 hours of gameplay, just depends on how you approach it.
I have no idea how much time in total I put into Oblivion on my old, pre Live, 360 profile, nor how much time I put in total into Fallout 3 - though it took me about two years to finished it off in full and it was money well spent.
If Skyrim is as immersive as those games then bring on the exploration. And the massive flying dragons. After seeing the two dragons on the recent gameplay video then I am very much looking forward to fighting those.
Got sword, see dragon, bring the fun.
300 hours to Se everything in the game... It's really good and think about the dlc they'll bring out to make it even longer :DCleverSlogan
Mods > any terrible DLC.
Can't say I spent anywhere close to 300 hours in Oblivion, though I don't know my actual play time. I completed the main quest once, and started plenty of characters I didn't do much with before getting rid of them and starting again. I did play through most of the non-Shivering Isles content with one or two characters, but the level scaling ruined my fun (as well as many, more minor, things). I spent much more time in Morrowind, probably, even before I started adding mods (haven't done much playing on it with mods, though... been spending too much time searching and acquiring mods to use them XD ).
I hope I get far more enjoyment out of Skyrim than I did/do with unmodded Oblivion.
on my 1st play through on oblivion i clocked up atleast 150 hours and i didnt even do the theives guild questline or the dark brotherhood.
So far The Elder Scrolls is the only game series i have spent as much time on as Total War and that is saying something.
I know there's so much to do in general without even doing main sorta quests the game will be epic.on my 1st play through on oblivion i clocked up atleast 150 hours and i didnt even do the theives guild questline or the dark brotherhood.

It's hard to put a length on a game. Especially an open RPG. I will likely put far more than 300 hours into skyrim between alternate characters.

Very true. Everyone plays games differently. But either way, that's still a ton of time. I think this is one of those games I'll be playing off and on for quite a while.
