Which side did you choose?

I'm getting close to the point where I have to pick a side, and I'm really not sure which army to join.
Which storyline has the better loot?
Also, which side is fighting for a more honorable cause? I can't really tell if there are any "good guys" here or not.

The setup of both the quest lines are roughly the same. It's not like you are choosing between two factions with different quests, such as the thieves guild OR the college of winterhold. It's more of a question of do you want to do these certain civil war quests with the Legion or the Stormcloaks. As you said before, there really is no "right" or "good" organization: they both have their upsides and downsides, but if you think about it, it's just like politics in the real world. Is there every really a "correct" political party? In a sense, no, it's just who you believe in and what you're willing to fight for.

In my playthough, I ended up choosing to fight for the Stormcloaks. After seeing Jarl Ulfric at the beginning of the game in Helgen, he seemed like a really interesting character and I wanted to see more from him.

Pretty much this. I only went with the stormcloaks because the imperials tried to behead me(REVENGE!!). But if it wasn't for that I easily would've gone with the imperials.

Legion, usually. Once the Empire gets back on its feet you know they'll tear into those Thalmor dogs.

Well The imperial Legion is essentially a foreign force that's invaded the country, they bring about a couple of good ideas such as if they are in control then there won't be wars between Jarls anymore and thus provide with several years if not centuries of peace. The Stormcloaks are essentially the resisitance forces that don't want the Legion to take over, they want Skyrim to follow the old ways like it's always done and be independant, however they also want Skyrim to only consist of Nords and other races tend to be looked down up when it comes to them. Not to mention with the old way then there could be several civil wars afterwards. There is not right or wrong side, you just have to decide which you agree the most with.

I played both sides on some of my different charecters, but my main guy I didn't choose a side because theyboth are wrong. I believe in Democracy and it's values, but neither of the two groups in Skyrim represent that (much like Democrats and Republicans, see what I did there? )

The Legion sold out to the Aldmery dominion and banned Talos worship, which goes against the Freedom of Religion and strips the Nords of Skyrim of their religion and culture. They are also extreamely brutal and kill innocent villagers and civilians they come across for no reason at all, and they tried to kill you for no reason as well so you damn well bet I wanted revenge on them. They also heavliy tax the people of Skyrim which hurts them and keeps them in poverty.

The Stormcloaks on the other hand are just as bad in their own way, while they have some nobel goals such as wanting to get their right to practice their religion back and to protect villagers ect.... they are ONLY concerned with other Nords and don't care for the other races in Skyrim, and in fact they are racist. You will never expereince this directly to your charecter, but if you explore around you will see it. The Dark Elves are second class citizens and are forced to live in a crowded slum called the Grey District, Argonians arn't allowed inside the city ect..., and they don't care about the safety of non Nords. They also swear loyalty to Ulfric who is a borderline dictator. This also goes against Democracy and it's values of all men being created equal and having rights and no tyrants ect...

Oh and I should let you know that both sides have the same exact missions for the most part, just slight differences. And it doesn't change the game too much after you complete the quest line for either of these groups. This is just my take on this, hope this helps!

I went with Legion. I went with the mentality that I hated the Stormcloaks so much, I killed random farmers who said they were going to join them. I even tried to kill Ulfric prematurely, but obviously the game prevented me from doing that.

I went with the Legion after doing the Dark Brotherhood questline, for irony's sake. I didn't really have a whole lot of incentive to pick either side though - their dispute wasn't particularly interesting.

200 hours in and still haven't finished the main mission or decided Legion or Stormcloaks. I want to decide soon and slightly leaning toward SC. Thanks for the feeback. Gives me something to think about. Cheers! :)
