Square Enix has announced that Sleeping Dogs formerly True Crime Hong Kong will launch in August. I hope this game delivers, firstly to piss of Activision secondly as compition for GTA and Saints Row.

This is great news. I loved the originals. The gameplay that was shown off for the new one looked very promising. I was pissed it got canceled.

Im going to buy this game day 1, at full price, regardless of reviews, just to piss off Activision & becausei m a fan of the series. Lets make this the biggest selling game of the year!!!! Lets make Activision regret their mistake!!!

Originally, it was going to be, but they decided against it.

That's a good move, in my eyes. Kane & Lynch 1 and 2 were terrible, so Sleeping Dogs currently has A LOT of potential. Granted, the live-action trailer doesn't really show the game off, but it can give us an idae of what they are trying to aim for.

If the game is set for August, then I know what I'll be picking up during that time. :)

I like the Kane & Lynch series: it's gritty, it's filthy and doesn't hold anything back. I don't know why people hate it so much.

Because it isn't a good game or, for that matter, a good series. It was held back by a lot of things; the awful dialogue, the inaccurate gunplay, the uncaring characters and bad plot overall. Plus, after playing K&L, I can now understand why Jeff Gerstmann gave it the low score it deserved in the first place.

Different tastes. I generally like everything IO Interactive does (Hitman, K&L)

I just 1000G'd Himan Blood Money, I think you should find yourself a copy, not only it's a great game, but it should serve as a nice appetizer for Absolution (plus the two plots connect closely).

No, not at all. It's an assassination game. You are given one or more targets to kill and you have to find the sneakiest way to do it: you might choose to steal someone's clothes and blend in without arousing suspicion, or you may choose to poison the target's food, or you might hide in a closet until they come to their room and sneak up on them, or disguise as a waiter and hide a remote bomb in a cake. You can build your own custom weapons and use a suppressed sniper rifle to eliminate the target from a distance. After the deed is done you have to cover your tracks, hiding bodies, removing evidence, and then leave the crime scene undetected. It's unique stuff.

I'll look into it. Sounds really interesting. I think one of my friends recommended it to me awhile back, so I'll ask that person for more information on the game. Thanks! :)

I only played True Crime: Streets of LA, it was pretty good though. Hopefully this turns out well.

I also only played the first True Crime game. My opinion is that it wasn't a very good take on the open world genre. The missions and the world were greatly lacking. Then, there's the on foot and driving, both which weren't that well implemented. As most open world games, this franchise could be done much better.

I found Streets of LA good but was ruined by the awful control scheme on the original Xbox, didn't play the PS2 version, anyway i will have to give this a try and hope they fix that awful control scheme because i love open world games.
Plus as stated, it will piss off Acitivi$ion.
