Yeah it's pretty freaky but it's not the scariest game ever made because it's not really a game. It is terrific for what it does and is pretty terrifying at times but some of the big hitters in horror games could do this no problem. It has no story to it and a very small world with one level and the same type of scare in it. A truly great horror game has many different ways to scare you, a story to push the player forward and an outcome at the end of it all.

There is no denying Slender is fantastic for what it is but I am getting tired of people calling it the scariest game ever made. You should try Cry of Fear too if you have half life 1. Then try SCP containment breach which is another very cool and scary mod

It's more annoying than scary, it seems to be impossible to win.

After page number 5 things get really hard and slenderman pops up all the time. The trick is to keep the camera as straight forward as possible and don't sprint. Once you lose visual or turn around a script kicks in to make slenderman pop up. Some areas are unavoidable though like that bathroom area, but just head there first and get the easier ones after.

Also even when you win you lose anyway so it's stupid. You get page 8 and walk around like you still have more to collect until slender gets you anyway

People also said The Human Centipede was one of the scariest films ever made. Then I watched it...my Yorkshire Terrier is more frightening.

Anyway, seen footage of it and it looks like a lightweight horror game so no thanks.

Who said that? It's a low-production value exploitation film, not meant to scare, but disgust. And it was terrible in all aspects. Especially that which it strived for. I suggest L'Interieur, Audition or Kichiku dai Enkai if you really want to be unsettled and truly disgusted. On topic, I have not played the game yet, but am very intrigued.

Sure, It disgusted a lot of people but it's still a horror film and the fundamental characteristic of a horror film is to frighten. If it doesn't then it's failed as a horror film. Martyrs was also a film that was designed to repulse but did so by tapping into a contemporaty fear of child abuse and child abduction coupled with the existence of cults and then presenting the deformity of both. So, it's a much more effective film overall.

horror menas a LOT of different things. Horror is gore too hence why the Saw movies are horror movies. It's not always about impending dread and fear through heavy atmosphere.

Slender isn't very scary at all. It does try to be a real horror game, unlike other big budget "horror" games which just amount to cheap jump scares and lots of gore. However, as soon as you realize how the game works, specifically the dynamic between the slender man and the notes, then it loses most of it's scariness. Amnesia is a much better horror game but if you want a truly scary game, play SCP: Containment Breach. That is a true horror game and it's free. Also, watch this video for some truly great horror games: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ican2L9L99w&feature=plcp
