I like both equally. Except for Lost Levels because that is hard and I do like that I can save so All Stars for that one.
The graphics in the All-Stars versions are better, no doubt, you'd be in denial to say otherwise. You also get save files which is cool. So All-Stars is defintely an improvement. And other than the save files and graphics upgrades, they left the games alone, they still play exactly the same.
But the nostalgia attached to the original NES versions wins it for me. I grew up on NES and became a lifelong gamer because of the NES. So I prefer the originals.
NES versions by far. The SNES versions may be technically better but they're worse aesthetically imo. Also Lost Levels is tonned-down on the difficulty compared to the Famicom Disk SMB.2.
I like Super mario 1 and 3 on the NES. SNES All stars is great but it a different way. I bought All Stars when it was the second pack-in game along with Super Mario World.
I prefer the graphics and sound of the NES games. The snes versions have never looked right to me, with perhaps the exception of Mario 2.
I did not know that, couldn't tell from I played of the import on VC. Except for mushrooms and poison mushrooms looking more similar, instead of poison mushrooms being purple on All-Stars and standing out immeadiatelyAlso Lost Levels is tonned-down on the difficulty compared to the Famicom Disk SMB.2.

SNES all the way, of course, perhaps I'm jaded because my SNES ALL-STARS cart also has "super mario world" on it :P
I LOVE Super Mario All-Stars (it's my favorite game), but I have to go with original NES versions just for the fact they represent my first experience with the Super Mario Bros. series and nostalgia.
