In case you haven't heard, Google Chrome had its Native Client tech launched recently, prompting developers to start releasing their wares onto the browser through its Web Store. The big announcements were the release of Bastion and Mini Ninjas (yeah, I know; Mini Ninjas is hardly important, but work me here), the former available now while the latter is still a ways off. The only catch, though, is that you have to meet the games' system requirements, but then, that's hardly surprising given that you're still running the game locally.
That Native Client technology is basically making Chrome into a viable gaming platform, which is an insane prospect. A Web browser of all things. Who'd have thought it possible? Puts a whole new meaning on browser games, that's for sure. Wonder how long it'll be before we start seeing larger games appear there.
So what are your thoughts on this? Good? Bad? Don't care? Personally, I'm curious to see how this will develop. I don't know if it'll end up being a threat to other distribution services, but it could certainly become a viable competitor should they get a strong library built up. At the very least, it could be a great way of checking out a demo really quickly.
