Some good stuff has come out though it will be hard to top the year R2 deadspace & bioshock came out.

I actually liked FNR4...probably cuz I never played any of the previous ones..and the reviews I read about why people did'nt really like it, were ones who basically said they did'nt like the new punching controls...I found it easy, I don't know....as for the rest of the new releases this year..I'd give it a C+...some decent good games(none really great to me)...and a few terrible games
Street Fighter 4,Resident Evil 5,GTA:ChinaTown Wars,MadWorld,BlazBlue,Infamous,Red Faction:Guerilla,Ghostbusters,Punch-Out!!. I love all those games. I've already bought like 11 games this year, that's the most i've ever bought in one single year, and i'm gonna get at least 10 more so hell yeah this has been a good year for gaming!!:D
I don't think I've bought a game (from this year, anyway) apart from the old ones I've been catching up with the entire 09. So I guess in short, I haven't been too impressed. 2007 was kind of special for me, but 09 not so much. Although, with a handful of games coming out in the coming months (after the summer drought), things should look to be better.
I can't wait for Splinter Cell, personally.
I don't think it's been too bad. It's had it's nice share of notable title.sElemayoIts a good year so far imo with Empire Total War, GTA: China Wars, Infamous, Killzone 2, MLB The Show 2009, Knights in the Nightmare, Devil Survivor, Henry Hatsworth,The Sims 3, Street Figther 4, Blazeblue, Dawn of Discovery, Dawn of War 2, Resident Evil 5, Red Faction Guerilla and Dragonquest V, I only think a handful of this games are triple A, but overall its a good year for games, I would take next year over it in a heart beat though.
While most of the big games really hit at the end of the year I think so far comparatively it's been a great year so far.
2009 has been a terrible game year so far. I can't think of a single game that surpassed "mediocre."NBSRDan
Then I guess you don't play many games, do you?
What's with FNR4's hate today? I thoroughly enjoyed the demo, and the only reason I haven't got it is because I have other games with higher priorities in my "to buy" list. The physics engine and revamped fighting system make for an outstanding boxing simulation.
On topic, yeah it's been a great year, but what I am really excited for is the second half of it.
Not really. Unless if there's a massive boom of quality titles during the holiday season...2008 and 2007 beat this year easily.

FNR4 is the best boxing game made to date, period. The biggest strike against it is that the career mode should be better but the core game is untouchable and damn near perfect.
I keep seeing people complain about no face button controls, but with my limited experience with it, you really don't need them. The thumb-stick works great. What's with FNR4's hate today? So, its been a great year. Like I said in my blog, game developers seem to have finally figured out some of us game year round. Inbetween Blazblue, KZ2, Battlefield 1943, Flower, Loco Roco 2, Infamous, Noby Noby Boy, Crimson Gem Saga and 'Holy Invasion of Privacy Badman' there has been a great mix of quality original games and sequels.
It's pretty much impossible to properly discuss the fare of a year in gaming until the fall/winter months come. :Patm0073stole my comments exactly lol :P. I'm just waiting now, saving my money :)
well the beginning of the year was bad but its been off to a rough start but later in the year this fall there are many ppl stoked for the fall releases like cod modern warfare 2 and assassins creed 2X12-GENERAL& Bioshock 2 & Halo 3 ODST :P
It's been a good year, with good end of the year titles coming out. Going to be a bit hard for any year to match last years, GTAIV, MGS4 & Ninja Gaiden II all coming out within a few weeks.btaylor2404
Oh yeah it's definitely going to be tough for any game to compete against those two, but I feel we've already had five game of the year contenders and we're only six months in. I expect games like SF IV, KZ2, RE5, Flower and InFamous to be GOTY contenders at the end of the year. :)
So yeah, to answer TC's question, it's indeeed been a good year for gaming. Heck, it's been fantastic!

It's been an average year in terms of gaming so far, every year is really an average year for gaming, especially in the era of the 'Milked To Death FSP/TPS Genre'.
Today's 'wonder game' becomes tomorrow's bargain buy.
