Name two handheld and two console Sonic games (INDIVIDUALLY) you have found to be the best of the best. Whether it be the innovative and impressive Sonic Skyri- Sonic 2006, or SSr, to fan favorites like Sonic Advance, what are the best Sonic console and handheld games? (Keep in mind, Sonic 3 and Knuckles is two games, and that could onlybe counted if Sonic 3 and SandK are your top 2.) Here is a template for those in need and my opinion on the subject. Top 2 console games: Top 2 handheld games: Which is true. But what do you think? (Give a shout out to Sonic CD, but compared to Sonic CD Shadow the Hedgehog had better stage design which is awful in Sonic CD. Also Sega CD quality is worse than the collection version for PS2 and GC.)

Interesting list haha. "Sonic CD, but compared to Sonic CD Shadow the Hedgehog had better stage design which is awful in Sonic CD" ??? Does Shadow the Hedgehog even have stage design? Somehow or another I beat it once but those stages were awful. Console: Sonic 3&Knuckles, Sonic 2. Honorable Mention goes to Sonic Adventure, I truly love that game. Handheld: Sonic Advance, Sonic Chaos

You can't have a list without the original game, 2 or 3, so there are more than 'best 2. Since there are more than 2 good console games, here's a list of ones that stood out to me that didn't cause the series any harm: Sonic & Knuckles due to it being its own game but also allowing play with Sonic 2 and 3. Sonic Adventure due to how well it brought Sonic into 3 dimensions. Sonic Adventure 2 perfected what was great about Sonic Adventure. Sonic Generations might be my current favorite as it has revived the name and the character back from mediocrity. - along those lines Sonic Colors did a great job in getting the current revival going again, when 4: Episode 1 couldn't.

Sonic Adventure due to how well it brought Sonic into 3 dimensions.
Not especially well. It wasn't a bad attempt, but it could be closer to the original games.
Sonic Adventure 2 perfected what was great about Sonic Adventure.
I really don't see how since it made almost every play styIe and the aesthetics ten times worse.
Sonic Generations might be my current favorite as it has revived the name and the character back from mediocrity.Stinger78

How if it was mediocre at best itself?

so am i not the only one who thinks SA1 was 10x better than SA2? SA2 relied way tooo much on the cheeseball story, more anoyying characters that you HAVE TO play. You can't spindash spam, which totally kills the fun. The graphics's artstyle i like less, but it lags less. Shadow is so st00pid sonic started to become stupider yeah

Both SAs aren't that good at all. Both have that clunky camera, the first one has that horrible hub, and the second one has those tedious sections withKnuckles & Tails. The Sonic stages are fun, but overall, the games just aren't good.

Console:

Sonic Generations

Sonic 3 &Knuckles

I haven't played a handheld one.

Sonic 2 and 1 or 3, depending on the day.

Pretty sure the only handheld Sonic game I've played is 1 on the Game Gear, which I loved, though I'm more familiar with playing it on the Master System.

Console Sonics from best to worst (haven't played Generations or Secret Rings and Black Knight or Sonic 4 Episode 2, so I won't rank those ones):

Great Sonic games:

1. Sonic the Hedgehog 3

2. Sonic & Knuckles

3. Sonic the Hedgehog 2

4. Sonic CD

5. Sonic the Hedgehog

6. Sonic Colors

Decent but not anywhere near great Sonic games:

7. Sonic Heroes

8. Sonic Adventure 1

9. Sonic Adventure 2

Lackluster Sonic games:

9. Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 1

Bad Sonic games:

10. Sonic Unleashed

11. Shadow the Hedgehog

12. Sonic 3D Blast

13. Sonic 06

SA1 is a good deal better than 2, but it has many of the same problems.

Logic? Where? You pick 2, you can easily pick 2 and do not HAVE to have 1 2 and 3. There are many cases where the original is considered crap or the sequel is consider crap but the next games isn't or is, or side to side, or upsidedown. For example, if this was about megaman, Megaman 1 was terrible. period. I doubt that would be on anybodies list (unless i just caused them to do so now by saying it wouldn't.)

  1. Sonic the Hedgehog (Genesis) - Because it holds the most nostalgia for me. It came with my Sega Genesis as well as being the first Sonic game I ever played so I played it the most of any Sonic the Hedgehog game.
  2. Sonic & Knuckles (Genesis) - Because it was just awesome back in the day. Awesome 2D graphics, great soundtrack, good level-design, Knuckles is a playable character, and the oh-so-rad lock-on technology.

What I meant to say is that the first 3, along with Sonic & Knuckles are what brought in many Sonic fans, and are often considered the 'best'. They're the "classics" and it makes it more difficult to narrow down a list of best when those 4 made such an impact. If I were to pick my favorite 2, then maybe Sonic Generations and Sonic 2 would be those 2 with the others I mentioned being great Sonic games.

Console: Sonic 2 & 3, there's nothing to even talk about here.

Handheld: I don't remember liking any of them, but there are some I haven't played.
