I'll be happy if it's in DC. I'm more than tired of the west coast in all the games this year. Plus, the federal government is more than ripe for some Grand Theft Auto parodying.guynamedbilly
What games were set on the West Coast this year? Aside from LA Noire? Most every game that came out this year that featured a "real" location was all East Coast - with the majority of them taking place in New York (Crysis 2, MW3, etc.).
Its an honest question, as I don't remember that many games that took place on the West Coast.

As for DC being the setting of GTAV - I'd say I doubt it. While the city does have its fair share of corruption, the town really isn't known for its gang violence, mafia connections or anything of that nature that Rockstar would be able to "hook" onto. I'm sure locals may have a different opinion, but in the world outside of DC the district isn't really known as a violent place.
And I don't know where the connection from the logo to DC comes from either. The "V" in the logo is supposed to represent money - and if that was a hint towards its location I'd say that money isn't synonymous with DC - but more New York as that's where the Stock Exchange is and its also known as the "Financial Capital of the World". But since New York was just featured in GTA4 - THAT location is out.
It should also be mentioned that "insiders" at Rockstar have already told a couple news outlets (like Kotaku) that GTA V will be featuring a reconstruction of Los Angeles - so that means San Andreas should be the location.
