Poll So how often do you start a new game ? (27 votes)

I only start one new game when i completed the last one. (yes, there are such people!) 22%
I constantly start way too many games so i only complete one once in a while but never all of them 44%
I just try not to start too many new games so that i am still able to complete all of them 33%

with such an amount of new and interesting games (or even older games not having played yet), much time consuming games (all sidemissions, 100% etc.) or games taking way too much time to master (dark souls...ggggrrrrr)), i wonder...

...are there still people who complete most of their games before they move on to the next one or are they doing it like me, starting a shitload of games within a short time often being unable to complete even one of them

I finish a game before starting a new one. I don't understand why many people don't do this.

I just keep playing what interests me. Like I put witcher 2 on hold and been playing BF3 multiplayer.

i guess you never played DARK SOULS then, you probably would be still chewing on the first dark souls today without playing any other game released by now

but the answer to your question is simple, because it would take too damn long before people can get their hands onto another few long awaited titles being already released, some guys havent even completed the last assassins creed while the newest one is out already again

there are just too many games being released these days, just think about great indie titles, sometimes there are several great titles being released in one single day, but the good side on those is...they are mostly not that time consuming

thats the spirit!

i sometimes argue with friends why they obviously hold back playing the newest great titles and force themself to finish some friggin game only because they think they absolutely must finish it before starting a new one

I like to have about 3 games that I am currently playing at a time, and as I beat them I will add another one into the rotation. Currently I am playing battleblock theater, alien isolation, and I am trying to figure out a 3rd game to play to replace kingdom rush, which I just beat.

I rarely start new games, even if I buy new games. I don't know what's wrong with me. It's just hard for me to start a new game unless it's a majorly anticipated game I've been wanting for a long time. I have the same problem with TV. I just don't start watching new series.

theres nothing crazy about it, i actually dont care about ever completing a game, if it happens that i complete one then only because i had so much fun with it unlike some guys i know who kinda force themself to complete a game even when its not that fun anymore because they played it for too long

i even sometimes make a break of months between sessions before i get back again to certain games

I constantly start way too many games so i only complete one once in a while but never all of them...

Depends on my mood , sometimes i go multiplayer with BF4 or BF3 , sometimes i feel like playing child of light or sth ....but i never ever cling on just one game!

Currently i have like 20games installed on my PC .....waiting for some free time...

I play several games at a time, half hour of this one, half hour of that one and so on, I also may purchase a game or two every two or three weeks ( some new, some preowned ); some games I own I´ve never touched them, I have the entire AC saga and haven´t even played the first one, my son likes AC, I still don´t understand it.

I like to have about 3 or 4 games going at a time for a bit of variety. It kind of depends on the games though. I'll only play one story heavy game like an RPG with a couple other lighter focused type games such as racing and fighting games.

I'm playing modded FF XIII right now and am dead set on finishing it. Seing as I stopped playing Tales of the Abyss just before the last dungeon in favour of it, I'm not too confident though.

Same here. I like commiting myself to only one game at a time except for co-op or online games.

In general, I've found that if I am doing more than 1 or 2 first playthroughs of games then I enjoy them less. Specifically, I've also noticed a pattern where I will start a new game but something just won't quite feel right. I will then go back to a 2nd playthrough of something else, complete it and THEN comeback to the new game/1st playthru and have a blast with it.

I think it's kind of a Catholic midwest thing where I don't feel like I "deserve" to play a brand new title until I've gotten some more utility or moneys-worth out of a previously played title. In short, I have to "earn" the thrill of a new campaign by putting in work on some older games.

PVP stuff -- like Planetside 2 and Gotham City Impostors -- and shooting gallery type games -- like Killing Floor, Warframe or L4D2 -- are exceptions to the above references. I play those as much or as little as I like no matter what else I am playing.

I have around 30 games, 10 of them completed. I like to play about 1/2 - 3/4 of the single player campaign and then start over and on the 2nd playthru play it to completion. I find it much more rewarding to pace myself thru a game rather than a hurry up playthru.

When I play a game I want to completely engage with that story and character. Of course this doesnt work with all games. ] I get a little depressed when I finish a truly epic game. Its Like losing a friend you spent some brilliant times with.. oh man that sounds lame....hehe but whatever somebody has to know what I'm talkin about.

I play alot of different games but usually not in the same catagory. I play at least one AAA adventure/action type of game at a time and i feel i need to finish the main story in that game before i move on to the next adventure game. I allways have one story driven game that i play, one online shooter and Tekken + games that i play with my daughter like Nino-kuni, Little Big Planet 2, Castle Crashers etc..

thats why i always try to get 100% with all sidequest, sidemissions, extra bonus achievements and on and on, that way it takes longer of course

GTA 5 for example, since the first mission i get the gold medal, if i dont get the gold medal then i repeat the mission for as long til i get the gold one, THEN i move on to the next mission

...so in GTA 5 i needed about 4 hours for the first 4 missions because i got stuck in that one where you have to escape with your car with having as less damage as possible to get the gold medal, but i finally figured it out how to solve that problem easily

I used to play and complete one game at the time, but that was a long time ago (NES, PS1). These days I will try a game, and put it down if I'm not in the mood or feel like it's a waste of my time. But in general, I try to finish all the games that I like.

With Far Cry 3, I don't often start from the beginning. But, I reset outposts often.

@sabretooth2066: Sounds like a good way to not rush through a game and a good way to learn the game mechanics

that was definitely a welcomed addition in GTAV, the ability to replay missions. When I first got GTAV I played it relentlessly, burned out and put it down for 3 months.

I tend to start a new gave quite a lot, but I'm keeping a list of games that I do complete. Well, it's not always 100% completion, and on some games I make allowances for side quest and such, but the goals I set to put a particular game on the list differ for each game.

It entirely depends on what I'm interested in at the time.

I never try to go for 100% achievements (don't have xbox live, so it doesn't really matter anyway), so every game I do have has already been 'completed'.

What matters to me is completing the main story and just doing whatever interests me in each game, so I'll either just play one or juggle several depending on current interest levels for each game.

I focus on one, maybe two games at a time. Any more than that is just too much for me. I generally play and stick to something for a few weeks or however long it takes me to do everything I want to do before moving on. If it's something that is much longer lasting or a game with a relatively long campaign that I'm going to play through more than once, I'll usually play something in between before returning to it. Usually. I did play nothing but GTA V for like the first 5 or 6 weeks it was out, to name an exception.

I've usually been in the habit of finishing a game I'm working on before I start the next one. Of course, I haven't been doing so good lately. When I finished Dark Souls, I started Hyrule Warriors. After one mission, I started Shadow of Modor. I managed to finish that, then went back to Hyrule Warriors only to get distracted with The Evil Within. I don't plan on playing anything else until I finish The Evil Within. Now, the only question remains: can I finish Hyrule Warriors without being distracted again? Haha.

I'll play two or three games over the span of three to four month's then buy two/three/four games by Xmas then play them for about four or five month's.I guess what I mean is,it depends on the time of year it is,usually Xmas comes out with the best type of games of the year. Can't wait for Call of Duty:AW,Halo:MCC,and Battlefield:Hardline.

I try to finish a game before starting another. When I'm "finished" with a game I'll mostly start a new one but it also depends on the nature of the game in question. For instance the main game I'm playing is Hitman Absolution but I also play a lot of Smash Bros (or try to) and Rogue Legacy because they are both pick up and play games where you don't need to do anything with a set goal in mind. But on the whole, with more definitively made games, with a story mode and whatever, I try to play them one at a time. Sometimes, if I'm playing a longer game like an RPG I'll take a break to play a shorter game. Hitman has yet to be completed but I've beaten Outlast while also playing Hitman since Outlast was so short.

Often I go from one game to another and when I do this I re start the other game as forget where I left off :P. Recent though just completed AC4 and stuck with it and was my 1st game in ages where I stuck to and until complete. 72 hours it tuck not all at once. I have also 260 hours on SimCity 5 and I still play it as its a chill out game where I listen to music as well..
