Ive just got to say, wow, i cant believe i found DS brand new for 40$, and why did they use the GOW gameplay engine? i really hate the GOW engine but ill deal with it until the story attracts my attention, what ive seen in Dark Sector, is mixed game experiances, like i said its got the GOW engine, and its definitely got silent hill and resident evil's scariness, because on a certain level, i remember seeing someones shadow behind me and omg i almost pissed my pants. im not going to involve any story into this because i dont like putting spoilers into things.

Most people wouldn't, but Unreal Engine is one of the most popular.

Isn't it the Unreal Engine 3?

Well good for you that your enjoying the game. I on the other hand didn't finish the game and didn't really enjoy it. After a while, playing the game felt like a chore. The story is practically non existent and pretty much a joke. To each his own.

sadly the story does suck. why is it that game companies make games with practically no story, viking battle for asgard would have been much better if it had deeper story.

Actually, Dark Sector doesn't use the Unreal 3 engine (or the GOW engine, as you call it). The developers of DS built their own engine from the ground up for that game.

It may look similar to Gears, but it's an inferior game.

Dark Sector uses Digital Extreme's own proprietary engine called the Sector Engine, not the Unreal Engine 3 ("the Gears off War engine"). Anyways, Dark Sector was one of my favorite games I played this year. It has its fair share of issues, but the gameplay mechanics were a blast to play around with. I really liked the environments, too.

It's more GeoW than RE4.

well from the looks of your avatar your a mccain fanboy, its almost exactly like the GOW engine, so i wouldnt call it a new engine if they just tweak an old engine.

Negative.

And no, that's incorrect. The Sector Engine is not a tweaked version of the Unreal Engine 3. It's an entire new engine and does things differently.

Just because a game may look similar to Gears of War does not mean it's running on the same engine. You can find a list of UE-powered games here. Some of those games have nothing in common with GeoW.
