Lead and Gold -- Western shooter with light MMO aspects and great gunplay
King Arthur the Role-playing game -- Engrossing atmosphere and artwork. Very strong narrative

Trinity: Souls of Zill O'll- a 40-60 hour rpg with fluid combat and good story telling.
Valkyria Chronicles- nice strategic TPS combat, decent story, many characters to recruit for your army unit.

Knights in the Nightmare...
Why it's overlooked: anime based hybrid of at least three genres, and the hour long tutorial does't help things.
Why it's great: Deep, deep gameplay with loads of options, plus the production values and story are fantastic.
Overlord and Overlord 2, great games and tons of fun controlling minions to run around and wreak havom

Saints Row and Just Cause are too cheesy and not worth the time. Sorry.
Shattered Horizon: A great FPS that is not only set IN SPACE but also does the SPACE theme some well deserved justice and is a good looker on the part as well. Also, gravity. Gravity.
Sanctum: FPS/Tower Defense hybrid that is oh so addicting.
Dark Forces: A Doom clone, no doubt but a really, really, good Doom clone.
Half-Life 2: Episode 1: Perhaps not the best of the episodes or the best that Valve ever did with the Half-Life series but, hey, it's still better than most FPS titles these days.
Transformers: War for Cybertron: The best Transformers game I've ever played and probably ever will be. Great singleplayer and a pretty good multiplayer thrown on top as well for a solid and very entertaining package with the Transformers name thrown into the heat of everything.

I enjoyed this game but it was a tad spartan. I loved the amazing visuals though.
I think PSP games tend to be very overlooked. There are many great titles but at times, it feels only as if the Nintendo handheld gets most of the attention. Loco roco, Patapon, Crisis Core, Dissidia are a few games that are top notch but don't really get the amount of recognition such high quality games actually deserve.
Also this may sound like madness but sometimes I also feel that the Playstation 3's platform superstar, Ratchet and Clank, don't really get that much attention either. I am by the way, talking about the two "actual" games and the small in the middle PSN game... These are some of the greatest games this generation, they're very pretty and fun gameplay and it feels like playing a Pixar movie. These are easily some of the best this generation has to offer and even though they are so good, they don't get nearly as much as attention as other games, especially compared to Nintendo's platformers.
I personally think that Nintendo's platformers are not as good as Ratchet and Clank, except for the Mario Galaxy's gameplay (but that's all it has going for it unfortunately). Kirby and Donkey Kong for example, are unfairly given much more attention. So yes, Ratchet and Clank are not THAT overlooked but it's one of the big boys yet it's never treated as a major player. Everytime we talk about the PS3 major league, it's always like GoW, inFamous, Uncharted, Killzone and so on and often RC seem to get overlooked even though it deserves a mention as well...

How is being cheesy bad? Just Cause 2 offers so much ridiculous fun, and the cheesiness adds to it really.
Folklore PS3- adventure RPG with gameplay focusing on faeries you collect/absorb and use as attacks and other abilites. Capturing uses motion control which isn't that bad. I think it's overlooked alot because it's older I think 2007, 2008 and it's an odd title but it was very fun had good leveling and feats to level the creatures up along with a variety of different attacks from each from melee to ranged to magic. Reminded me of that Blue Dragon game how they have those shadows except yours is usually in front of you when you use it also its real time no turn based. Very cool concept and lore in the game.

oh you must be the serious gamer. Never played Just Cause beyond the demo and it's pretty fun. Also Saints Row 2 is among the best games I've ever played it has some of the awesomest set pieces in any game of this generation plus it's just damn fun, that's what I look for in my games, fun. I could see if you said Borderlands was cheesy since that is pretty much all that game is about, stupid humor and tons of guns, which sold millions. I take it you're a COD guy. Now that is a seriour realistic game.

how can a game be "too cheesy"? it's not a film... it's NOT A FILM. i repeat...
it's a game... it can be that it's not taken seriously and still be considered high quality... cause it's a fun toy. not a some kind of... grand experiential art piece. give it a rest.

Your kidding right? I've yet to play Saints Row so I can't comment on that but Just Cause 2 is one of the best Sandbox games the gen! I mean in what other game can you get a jet take a wire attach it to the jet then attach that wire to a car take off in the jet surf on top of the jet then get in that car attached to the jet and disconnect the wire.
Final Fantasy Theatrhythm. Surprisingly well done rhythm game. Tons of content and the little taps and swipes coincide very well with the music.

What other game allows you to play the game for 30 hours and ignore any and all plot beyond the first mission and remain super fun? Just Cause 2.
everyday shooter. it's novel for using a genre traditionally about destroying stuff to make a game about creation and harmony, but i suppose it's not the first game to take that sort of angle. what i think really makes it stand out is how cohesive it is. from the visuals, to the music, to the mechanics, to the rules, nothing doesn't tie into the theme of each level. there are no wasted parts.
