Sonic The Hedgehog : should it get the MM9 treatment.

Ive been thinking for a while now,how can sega make sonic relevant again.

Maybe they should make a 3D Sonic like the adventures with only sonic,than I thought not every sonic would like it besides they ruined the formula with Sonic 2006,Sonic Unleashed looks decent,but its too much like rush and I cant shake out the thought of the werehog.

And then came Mega Man 9,I was never a fan of the series,but I can connect with mega man fans,its literally a return to what made it popular,back to basics and all that.

This is what sonic needs,it should go back to what it used to be,building momentum and reaching high speed,going through obstacles and platforming(as in actual jumping not holding right on the D-pad) to reach the end as fast as we can.

But thats easier said than done,like most people,I have little to no hope in Sega or sonic teams ability to give us this,but thats the only way they should do it,back to the drawing board.

Do you agree? Whats your thoughts on my suggestion?

Oh and feel free to name any game you think should get the same treatment.

The thing is that Sega likes money, and kids are stupid. I would love to see a 2D Sonic game, but I doubt it will ever happen.

No way,,,MM9 was a nice Idea,but I whouldn´t prefer it.Chasing after the past isn´t always a bad thing,but there must be at least some improvement...not everything was great.

Exactly, Sega has been putting out 2D Sonic games that play almost exactly like the Genesis versions. This thread is pointless because it has got the Mega Man 9 treatment around a half-dozen times.

Sonic Rush is like that.ASK_Story

Not really.

Sonic Rush is all about speed,ALL about speed,you basically hold the right directional button and make few jumps and your there,its basically a racing game with a jump button,Sonic The Hedgehog is about building momentum and platforming,you have to stop sometimes to do some jumping and there alternate routes you can take which adds a little variety every playthrough.

The old Sonic games also used physics to help create speed. For instance jumping out of a loop when you are at 2 O clock position would land you at 9 0 clock and with full speed. I never said the old sonic games wasnt about speed,Its just not all about it,reaching top speed and using different tactics to get there has always been a staple,but in rush you already start off very fast and its a hell of alot faster than any of the old sonics with alot less platforming.

Try playing the first three sonics,than play the rush games,there IS a difference.

And the reason I want it to go back is because the genesis sonic games were the best no argument,and even if Sega sucks now I still like to see them try.

i really enjoyed when you had the old sonic games perfected and you really never stopped moving in a level. the only other game that ive played that has also delivered that kind of play is the original donkey kong country. there was the good ol platforming in both of them, but once you knew the levels you could come back and go through them without ever stopping movement to the right. it was awesome.

The thing about 2D sidescrollers is that you almost never get tired of them,at anytime I can play Super Mario Bros.,Sonic The Hedgehog 2 and Donkey Kong Country and keep playing for hours,even when you die you just start over like nothing happened and still have the same amount of fun.

Thats the thing that most games can not emulate in this day and age.

Why don't they just kill him off hes bin crap for years and have been in no decent games since whenever why can't they face that sonic needs to be put out of our misery. onces gone we can all move on and go for better things that, dark brotherhood rpg isn't going to save the franchise sega we like you as a publisher than a developer like EA.
