I was at Gamestop the other day to pre-order Killzone 3. While talking to the clerk he asked me if I wanted the special edition and surprisingly I said yes. I say surprisingly because normally I don't purchase the special edition, just because I feel they are over priced and never really have anything worthwhile, that is unless you're a huge fan of that particular game. I decided to cancel my pre-order for the special edition and to just go with the standard version after some thought. After thinking about it, I started wondering how many people actually buy special editions and has there been one that just blew you away and made you feel like you got your monies worth? Any good recommendations? Michael

I never buy Special Editions unless I know it's worth it. I'm pretty sure I have only bought 3 or less special editions brand new and about 6 or more used. Tony

If they come with a soundtrack or art book they are usually worth it for me. I recently got the special edition of Atelier Rorona, it was 10$ more but I got a great box with it, that I use for display and an awesome art book. Worth it. Blazblue Limited Edition, great sound track. Record of the Argrest War for the lulz. Good soundtrack, sexy mouse pad, and sexy pillow cover :3

The ladies love that pillow case when they go in my dorm room.
Nope, they absolutely don't. The non gaming friends that my roomate brings over look at me like a freak when they see it.
Tony

Since I collect video game junk, I will sometimes by special editions. Even though, it's a rare thing because they have gotten so expensive. Many times they are $20 more, which is $20 more than I have to spare.

I only buy special editions for games/companies that I really enjoy and support. Examples would be LittleBig Planet, Final Fantasy/Square-Enix, Assassins Creed...Zelda and Pokemon if I owned a Nintendo console ):

I agree. I loved the Mafia II special edition. Art book and Orchestral score (plus some DLC) for ten dollars more. I tend to feel they're a waste as well. I have no use for Pandora's box, an action figure, or a cheap duffel bag.

I don't have a pillow that size so mine is still in the box. One day though. Most people see the box and give a me a wtf look.
